This process will be completed before the SCOTUS term begins again in October.

Also, Trump is going to nominate a strict constructionist that will not rubber stamp a particular party's ideological agenda, but instead will interpret the constitution as written.

at least two picks - Clarence Thomas has talked about wanting to retire and RBG can't hold out much longer

We were so close to a 6-3 Supreme Court and Democrat controlled for over a generation. Trump (with some help from McConnell and Harry Reid) saved it.

Nothing prevented Obama from withdrawing Merrick Garland's nomination and putting forth a more moderate pick. And yes Garland was more moderate, and older, than many would have liked, but in the end he did not meet the Senate's approval.

The Senate is not a rubber stamp for presidential Supreme Court choices. Borking and Garlanding differ in certain ways, but in one critical way they are the same. The are both 100% legal and constitutional.
The refusal of the Senate to give Garland a hearing did not have to do with his stance or views.

It had to do with what happened to Scalia. THEY KNEW.

BS. Garland didn’t merit Senate support because Obama was nominating him. It had squat to do with how moderate he was.

I live in Texas. Not even close to the truth. Even Austin, while liberal by Texas standards, is conservative compared to the rest of the country.

Save it. They didn’t even have a hearing for Garland. What goes around comes around and Republican will lose SC appointments because of McConnell. We are going to see just how right wing the GOP can make the country because this will be their chance to go as extreme as they can.

Nonsense. Bork got a hearing, Garland didn't, and it had nothing to do with how moderate Garland was or wasn't.
