...and we have the most expensive health care system in the world. So, then, what exactly are we paying for? Insurance companies and incompetence? Ineffectiveness? Any thoughts as to why we should not have UHC like every other developed nation in the world...?
Sure I have some thoughts, but so what? The reality is that in this country every dollar of profit is a good dollar, no matter how much harm is associated with it; no matter how many lives might be destroyed or damaged; this is the moral model that we have chosen for ourselves. Health care market is based on inflexible demand, other countries with different moral models have decided to regulate that market for the good of their citizens. We decided not to, that's all. With nearly total corporate control over every aspect of government in the USA, this is not going to change. Not to mention a populace that is dumb enough and brainwashed enough to meekly accept their fate. Hell some actually APPLAUD it as they watch their chances of having a healthy and prosperous life slip away from them. That is the reality we are dealing with better get used to it.

This isn't complicated. Here in the USA we have decided not to regulate the health care market, because our moral model says that all profit is good profit, no matter the consequences. We handed the reins of power to corporations and abdicated our responsibility to provide protection for our citizens against the tyranny of profiteers. We decided that governing a country like the USA is exactly the same as running a corporation, and should operate with the same values - after all, look at who we elected.

Health care is one of the most heavily regulated industries!
You are either lying or completely ignorant. Which one is it?

Exactly, I can picture this scenario:
"Well, not going to get that cancer treatment because my insurance won't cover it and I don't have a loaded Swiss bank account to cover the cost, but it still beats that socialist medicine because........freedom" lol

The amount of stupidity in this post is beyond my imagination.
Socialism by definition produces nothing. The only reason other countries’ socialized healthcare is “working” is because the capitalism is subsidizing it.
Without medicines invented and produced by capitalism, those hospitals would be lucky to have aspirin.

Yawn, we can have a Nationalized Healthcare system here and still have capitalism in the rest of the economy. It's only the Republicans that are the road block
