What fight? Trump signed the bill and took off to his resort to play golf. You're STILL expecting him to keep a promise?

The LP was once viable, but they've pretty much sold their souls. Local LP parties are still OK, though.

Growing government at a breakneck pace with record levels of spending

A 2300 page bill that almost no one voting on has read

There is absolutely no reason for the republican party to exist at this point if this is what they are going to accomplish with the most power they have had in 100 years .The Republican leadership is so weak. At this point who cares who wins the midterms, the Democrats are going to get what they want anyway
"what is the point of voting republican anymore?"

Because it would have been a LOT WORSE if the dems were in control!

Some scream for "compromise" then when we get it they STILL scream.

No, the money for the military is to rebuild it after Obama gutted it. Blame him. We were flying planes that were being maintained using parts cannibalized from other planes, meaning many of our planes were not even flyable. And Obama had cut our fleet of ships to dangerous levels.

National defense is the most legitimate of spending items.

No one likes war, but we live in a world where evil exists all around us, and they are eager to do us harm. Consider N. Korea and Iran. Both threatening to kill us.

Peace through strength.

He didn't "con" anybody. The Congress did this. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. They caved to the Democrats. They wrote this budget behind closed doors. Nobody had a chance to read it. And the Democrats demanded their favorite spending items be funded dollar for dollar in exchange for the military funding. That's why Planned Parenthood got funded, sanctuary cities, no funding for the wall AND NO DACA. I thought the Democrats wanted DACA? Apparently they only want it for a political tool, which they will use right before the mid-terms.

He SIGNED the bill. He could have vetoed it (as he threatened). He could have gotten a 2 week extension on the short term spending, and worked to get a bill that kept at least one promise he made to his base.

But he had to get out of town, had a Friday tee time in Florida.

Translation - there would be a government shutdown if they couldn't get enough D votes to pass the thing.

Further translation - the majority Rs are so deeply fractured that they couldn't pass a bill on their own.

Now I'm hardly privy to the inner relationships of Congressional Rs. And there is undoubtedly more than one reason why they couldn't agree on the OB. But you have to suppose that a lot of Rs are seriously worried about keeping their seats. And that Ryan/McConnell are seriously worried about keeping their R majority.

Pelosi and Schumer didn't deliver sufficient D votes just so they could be known as Mr./Ms. Nice Guy Team Player. They got real concessions in exchange for those votes. Rest assured they have a strategy in mind for DACA. And they are obviously pretty good at playing this game. So save your crocodile tears, no one is impressed.

nonsense, Ryan had two options
  1. Write the bill to satisfy the freedom caucus or whatever they call themselves and it would have passed with no democratic votes
  2. Ignore the hard line right wingers and get democratic votes
He chose 2, no one made him do that- it's all on him so miss me with the idea that they were forced to surrender to democratic demands.

For at least a year DACA is not going anywhere so why would Dems give Trump anything when they didn't need to?
