IF there were no dead children no one would question a person's right to own assault style weapons and avoid background checks using the gun show loopholes. There is NO GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE. Educate yourself, stop watching CNN. And my AR-15 IS one my personal protection guns. The Second Amendment is not about hunting!
So I sat down and watched the entire 3 hour rally... Heir Goebbels would have been impressed but I thought the art was a wee bit more advanced these days.
The narrative was so "by the book":
What are you scared of? Getting killed by someone with a gun! (insert some scary stories of death and violence here).
What do we want you to to believe is the root of the problem? Public ownership of guns! (insert scary AR15 video with sinister music/unverified statistics here)
Who's to blame? The evil NRA and Legislators who don't push gun control! (Insert more scary NRA vieos and blame gun control fence-sitters)
Attention spans are finite...Getting bored? Watch Miley and Ariana sing! You've heard of them, right?
What's the solution? Vote Democrat!!! Yay!
Some things were freaking hilarious. At one point, one of the speakers said, yeah there's famous singers and movie stars in the audience but this is real life! Not the (flop) Oscars! Never mind this propaganda piece had a budget in the hundreds of millions and quietly paid travel expenses for tens of thousands of warm bodies to be there for pictures and videos of impressive crowds... yeah, that's real life all right. Add just the right amount of nervous kids being nervous but who somehow pull it all together just as they make their talk's "point" with fire and ambition... seems legit, right?
When the shaved head militant girl gave her speech, she literally pulled a tactic straight out of #$÷ing Adolph Hitler's speech playbook... stand there silent and scowling for an awkwardly long time so the crowd could build anticipation for her to say something that would surely be earth-shattering.
And then to top it off, they attempted do what all propaganda tries to do: turn the world upside-down and convince the audience that making MORE restrictions on people somehow makes them more free.
And to seal the deal, they tried to tap into religious zeal gospel style and make the whole thing into a memorable psuedo-religious experience.
People of America... I don't even care what your personal stance on gun control is anymore, but please, just tell me you are more sophisticated than 100 year old propaganda techniques. Cause if you're not... we are ALL doomed to repeat the horrors of the previous century.

No rules, we all have our free speech. I think it is disgusting to use dead children to forward political agendas against an American right held dear for 250 years and still espoused by at leat half the country so I am posting my thoughts about it on a forum, for example.
The right to bear arms is NOT an American right and it is NOT a 250 year-old right; it a right endowed on us by the virtue of being born as human. The right to own property is an inherent natural right and was NOT given to us by the 2nd Amendment--it has existed since the dawn of man.

The military uses machine guns and bombs to create dead children every day--where's your outrage on that?

Funny, I remember filling out legal forms and getting background checks on each and every gun I own. I remember buying an expensive safe too, so they wouldn't fall into the wrong hands and remember drilling my own kids on gun safety over and over. Doesn't seem like a "no controls" situation at all.
And as far as the whole "we're not trying to take youre guns" thing, you people should be more accurate and say it like it is: "We're not trying to take all of your guns, just the one's we have decided are bad. Later, we'll decide more of your guns are bad and take those too, then do the same later on too.
That's not propaganda... it's what EVERY Western nation that has strict gun control has actually done. Not an Inch!!! I need those guns to protect my family, and for my kids to protect their families down the road.

Loophole. I've been married to a gun owning owning NRA member for over 40 years. Don't want to know how to shoot, own a gun, but the issue comes up with him about every 10 years.
Come with me to the gun show and we will go to dinner after. Ok, boring, but whatever. Pick out a gun you feel comfortable which and which fits your hand. Out of nowhere. Here we go again. Be quiet and don't say it is for you. I will buy it and get my instant background check because I have a CCW permit.
Me to him. Isn't that a Straw Purchase? No, because you are my spouse and it is my gift to you. What? So if this is supposed to be MY GUN, why should I not have to go through a BACKGROUND CHECK myself?????? Loophole. Honor system? Because HE has gone through all the bells and whistles that is enough?
I don't want a gun myself, but if I did, I would purchase it MYSELF. My fingerprints are already on file with the FBI having worked in Public Schools in two different states. If you knew my real name, you could do your own search online and find me in their files. A Gun Show couldn't do that themselves?????
I am pointing all of this out to show the MINDSET of Gun Owners, and Loopholes in the Laws.
