He's become like J. Edgar Hoover, above the law doing whatever he likes and everyone too chicken to challenge him.

Isn't payment from Cohen in itself illegal?

Its arguable. It can be seen as against the law as its a unreported donation in kind to the campaign. As such it would be a felony.

It would also get him disbarred for spending money on a client.

Breaking news reports are saying that Trump is floating idea to GOP congress about Trump planning to fire Rosenstein. He doesn't want to blindside the GOP congress. They are telling him not to do this.

Looks like Trump is getting ready to commit political suicide.

Wondering if Pence making is sure his favorite suit is ready and is getting a fresh haircut so he looks good for his swearing in.

except it was a republican who ordered the investigation....

Mueller is not investigating Cohen. He found something - concluded it was out of his purview and turned it over to the state to do with what they will.

Then Cohen is the one in trouble and Trump has no worries, eh?

I choose freedom.

And a president whose balls aren't caught in a Putin vise-grip.

It is a serious ethics violation to do something like that without informing (let alone receiving permission from) his client. I am thinking he could be disbarred, or worse, just for that.

Then there is the question of timing, did he do it to advance the campaign? That exceeds the limit for a single donation, and it wasn't reported.

If he did borrow from the bank, did he inform the bank of the purpose of the loan? There could be bank fraud.

If money was wired to him it could be considered unreported income. Does he keep a double set of books?

If money reached him from a sanctioned country or criminal source it could be money laundering.

Looks like all kinds of possible problems. Where is Eliott Ness when we really need him?
