Don't be daft. Machine learning and automation are not left or right issues. These changes aren't going to care if you are a Democrat or a Republican. Everyone is going to be equally affected.

I have a question: How is he going to pay for it?

This is socialism in no uncertain terms. No thank you, and by the way it will not eliminate poverty.

Okay, so again, who pays for the 1k a month this guy wants to give 300 million people? On top of the costs of every other social program we already have? Where does the money come from?

Bingo!

I can't believe that there are people out there who buy into this kind of garbage.

No, those in power will see to it that huge segments of populations are eliminated. The next major genocide may even happen in the US. A lot of people are cheaper to kill than be allowed to live.

According to the article in the OP, the money would come from
VATs on the companies using automation.

Which seems to me would make prices go up? Which would be paid for by the consumers, thereby possibly negating the benefit of the $1,000 monthly stipend.

I have no idea how this is going to work. But pretending these changes aren't coming at us, and very quickly, is foolish. And pretending it's just a liberal issue is equally foolish.

We better start thinking about these things now, before we are in a situation where there are huge numbers of people who can't find work to support themselves.

We're going to have to come together--not as liberals or conservatives, but as as human beings all facing the same problem--in order to do this. And if this board is any indication, we're doomed.

How will that work?

I actually don't disagree, but I do think it's a liberal issue. If we're in a consistent pattern of dwindling job prospects and a dynamic where the population far outnumbers the employment options, then why do Democrats fight immigration reform and want to open the floodgates to refugees and illegals when there's not enough resources to take care of our own? It makes no sense and sounds like they're far more clueless than Conservatives.
