Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Roslyn will also not be attending. Jimmy is out of the country and Rosyln is recovering from surgery.
The Clintons and Obamas are going as couples because they are probably the closest to the Bush family. Bill got very friendly with George HW after both were out of office. The Obama's, especially Michelle, seem to have a good relationship with George W.
The Bushs and all the other first families loathe Donald Trump. Not surprising he is not going. Probably best for all sides that he sends Melania. The Carters do not appear to be especially close to any other former first families as well. Jimmy's human rights activities have rankled some of the other presidents. He however is probably not disliked to a degree anywhere near Trump.
OK, I am SO far from a Trumpster supporter but this is the norm. The First Lady normally attends these funerals.

These are all very apt excuses, and may be true, but let's be be honest. He's not going because he offended Barbara Bush to her very core. That is what would be disrespectful. He is the last person she would want there. He's 'worried' about disruptions? Sure. The guy lives for disruptions and attention.

Donald Trump is skipping Barbara Bush's funeral because he respects the storied Republican political family too much.

President Trump will not attend former First Lady Barbara Bush’s funeral on Saturday, the White House announced.
“To avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush Family and friends attending the service, President Trump will not attend,” the White House said in a statement.
First Lady Melania Trump will attend the funeral.
Aside from her husband and son, other former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama will be at Saturday's service.
Former first ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush and Michelle Obama will also attend.
What a load of rubbish that he can't attend because of security disruptions and "out of respect " for the Bush family! He's probably scared of the Bushes and he realizes he won't be the center of attention at the funeral.
So Melania will attend while he works hard this weekend at Mar-A-Lago !
Nobody who is attending wants him there, most of all the Bush family.

Obama doesn't need to avoid Barbera Bush's funeral because Barbera Bush liked him and didn't like Trump. And neither does anyone else. Trump is not welcome.
