Absolutely. If Congress is going to require that those applying for unemployment benefits submit to it; welfare recipients submit to it; everyday Americans submit to it every time they apply for a job . . . then ABSOLUTELY Congress should be drug tested.

Its like they are flying the government plane and we are all on board. It would be good to know they aren't high while piloting the government.
NO ONE should be required to take a drug test, ever, unless they have a job where lives crucially depend on their state of being ... such as for airline pilots.

Considering the rushed, half-assed way Congress passes bills involving decisions that can have a very real impact on lives, I'd say they qualify.
I guess, only because I'm a huge fan of drug testing in general. These are the groups that most need to get drug tested.
1.welfare/food stamp recipients. Anyone who tests pisitive gets cut off period.
2. Homeless shelters. Save the beds for the good people who happen to be down on their luck...quit enabling addicts. Let then hit bottom.
3. All jobs. Not only should employers randomly test every employee. There should be a federal law where anyone who tests positive must get fired. This would leave a job opening for a non drug user and reward them for being a good person.
Are they not? Don't most government jobs do testing?
