Someone at work today had an interesting theory. He thinks that Trumps call for tariffs on our allied trading partners was calculated- not to actually induce the tariffs, but to rattle the markets and force the dow down. His cronies can then buy in, and then Trump will walk back the tariff talk (like he walks back a lot of stuff). The Dow will then rebound- cronies sell.

All Trump cares about is fame and fortune. He doesn't care how he achieves those ends. He's doing what he's always done - only now he's stiffing the whole country, not just the contractors who did work for him.
