Perhaps she could have avoided all this by not posting it for the ENTIRE world to comment on, though?
Personal responsibility and all that.
I doubt her prom was ruined at all.
While I understand what you are saying, that is the world we live in now. It seems only us old people that use FB have privacy settings set to Friends Only. Though I don't think I would go as far as saying she did it on purpose but who knows?
How would she know the history of the dress? She chose it because it's lovely and different from the status quo. It was for sale in a second hand store, not a Chinese Historical Theme shop....
I've actually had one similar, a knockoff, myself, years ago...
....luscious royal blue I wore to a wedding party I gave for a friend.
People have the option to make their account private so only a select few can view it, and she did not do that, so essentially thats what she did.
Oh, I see.
well, some people just love to make negative comments in order to make others feel bad about themselves. Miserable people usually love to "attack." lol
if I saw that photo, I would send her a quick note saying, "Hey, you look great in that red dress. Hope you enjoy your time. Take care." Sending positive energy to others makes me happy. I am not sure what is the purpose of attacking a total stranger on the internet, especially that stranger is a teenager girl. It seriously does not make sense to me. You have to be a really miserable person finding joy attacking strangers online.
I am a girl and I love to give other women compliments. "Hey, Mrs so and so, you look wonderful today." "Miss so and so, you are a beautiful woman." I like to make people happy, well, generally speaking.

Oh, I agree. I think the whole "cultural appropriation" thing is a joke in 99.9% of the situations its brought up in, just pointing out the dynamic here. Social media brings out the best attention seeking and miserable behavior that the human race has to offer.
I have 1/4 Japanese blood in me, the only time it bothers me is when somebody suggesting that I am personally responsible for ww2. LOL
Well, maybe if you personally hadn't dropped those bombs on Pearl Harbor, people would stop blaming you for it!
Meanwhile, you can console yourself with the almost-certain knowledge that the kind of person who would hold you personally responsible for World War II is the kind of person who couldn't find Pearl Harbor on a map of south-central Oahu.
