This is dumb. I haven’t had to submit to a drug test since the year 2000. I don’t know a single person who gets drug-tested. Besides, how would you go about finding out who smokes marijuana? You would spend more money testing people than you would save by eliminating the smokers.
Many companies drug test as well as perform background checks before they hire someone. That's reality and someone who tests positive for pot won't get the job even in a state where it's legal. Therefore it makes sense not to give pot smokers unemployment since they make themselves unemployable to some extent.

The governments of Maine, Oregon, Colorado, and Wisconson disagrees with you, and is working on legislation to prove it. Your bias against pot isn't going to hold up if you're an employer.

You have to pass an aptitude test where I work to get hired. Should we exclude those who can not pass it from unemployment also?

Yes it will. Alcohol is legal but I can still be fired for having it in my system at work. Making pot legal (which I support) will not negate employment rules.
I have never had to take a drug test and have been working for 20 years. What kinds of jobs do people have where they are getting tested? I guess I am in the right occupation or industry to avoid this nonsense.
Can't you just quit for a couple weeks and be good to go? It is not like quitting weed causes serious withdrawal symptoms. I know people that have used fake urine to beat the tests. If someone comes up with a pill or drink that can clean you out overnight, they would make major cash.
It takes about 30 days to get all THC out of your system.
This is getting tricky for companies to deny employent over pot because either recreational or medical pot is legal in many states, with new states passing laws each year. I think proof of marijuana use can stay in the body for several weeks, possibly a couple months. If someone went to Colorado 3 weeks ago and had a pot brownie, would a future employer turn them down due to failing the drug test.
Pretty soon companies will be forced to remove pot from the tests, as more states make it legal. It's like telling someone they aren't getting hired because they had a Bud Light 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night.
Right! In the last two month, I’ve been to a legal country (Canada), city (DC) and I’m going to a legal state next week. If I were to test positive for marijuana, there would be no indication that I’ve done anything wrong.
Probably not although both pot smokers and "drunks" should be able to go into a rehab and get treatment if they need to. If smoking pot or drinking alcohol is more important to someone than being employed, they have a problem.
