What if you identify as black? I'm being serious, it raises a lot of issues.
Pretending to be black to get a scholarship etc. would imo be worse as it denies someone else funds and opportunities but in this day and age that's going to be hard to do. (Looking at you Elizabeth Warren you piece of work.)
Blackface is generally ignorance and not intended as racism but is taken that way given it's racial history. It's bad but nobody is getting robbed or assaulted so it's far less worse imo.
P.S. My good friend applied for something and had to submit DNA and it came out about 40% black. So, at least for certain things they're getting more sticky about qualifying as "black" because otherwise you're going to get the Elizabeth "0.5%" Warrens of the world with zero ethics.
