Cut the BS, Americans have respected the military since we established this country. And they've done it at sporting events by standing, facing the flag, removing their hate, with hand over heart. If you want to worship Michael Brown, go to the cemetery.
"Removing their hate?"
What are you talking about?
Some of the most hateful posters on this forum are all about "stand on command."
Didn't see it - but if Fox News used other images of players kneeling NOT during the anthem, then I agree that it's a total misrepresentation of the issue.
I am an Eagles fan - and 99% of the time, they all stood during the anthem.
People forget how the kneeling came about. It was suggested by a veteran.
Seems he thought it was a better way to get a protest across.
But so many non-veteran -- cough cough Trump -- seem to know better.
People forget how the kneeling came about. It was suggested by ONE person. ONE as if that persons way of doing something has more meaning than anyone else.
But someone said I should do it.
Fox has issued a retraction and noted that no player on the Eagles team knelt during the Anthem last year at all.
Quote:
UPDATE: Fox News has apologized. “During our report about President Trump canceling the Philadelphia Eagles’ trip to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win, we showed unrelated footage of players kneeling in prayer,” said Christopher Wallace, Executive Producer of Fox News @ Night with Shannon Bream in a statement. “To clarify, no members of the team knelt in protest during the national anthem throughout regular or post-season last year. We apologize for the error.”
Point is -- they were trying to make a point and our President -- rather than behave like a leader and adult and say -- look guys let's set up a dialogue -- let's work on this and can we get back to standing for the anthem. You may have a point, let us explore it -- and I will work with you guys on this but I really want to see you folks standing.
He's not addressing the issue and choosing to make it an us vs. them debate.
Why? Because it plays to his base.
If he thought their protest had no merit -- why wouldn't he address that. Address the point the players are making.
All these moments are 'teachable' moments or pivot points for us as a country.
And for every military member insulted by the kneeling -- there was one guy saying he fought so that person could kneel in protest...
