This morning on NPR I was listening to an interview with a poor young mother.
She had an abusive husband that was part of a gang that hurt her and their kid. He was locked up for a time and during that time she had another child with another man. He got out of jail and threatened to harm her and her children even more so she moved to get away from him. She lives in fear that she will be found.
A similar scenario plays out hundreds of times per day across America where wives, girlfriends and kids are forced to flee from the abusive men in their lives.
The only difference with this story is that the woman was from Honduras and on her way to America to seek asylum. She was stuck in Mexico at a shelter where her and the needs of her children were being met but her ultimate goal is America.
My question is why do we put a precedent on this woman from Honduras when we have thousands of women already here in America living under the same situations that this woman is fleeing? Why aren't their stories just as important?
Why can't we help the people that are already here before reaching out to help those that are thousands of miles away?
"WE", don't, only liberals do. They care about everyone in the world. Except except American citizens. If they can do two things-one of which harms Americans and one which doesn't, they will choose the first one.

AS you seem to feel there is a difference between "here and there", why don't you answer your own question
There is a difference between the perception but not the narrative and you know it. The Left is pushing this agenda on America and NPR is a outlet for the Left to push their ideals. I used to listen to NPR a lot but gave up on them years ago when all they were talking about was the terrible plight and persecution that young gay men from Iraq were facing. It seemed to be all they talked about. That was when the hot Democrat topic was how we had to bring these refugees to America for resettlement.
Today it is all about the "crisis" at the border where the people that are trying to get into America by skipping the line are now called "asylum seekers" .
The here and there reference is made to point out the fact that young mothers are beat up and threatened by their boyfriends/ husbands everyday in America and we haven't seen any of them highlighted for an interview on NPR. I wonder if any of these battered women have sought asylum in Canada?
Why are we hearing about the plight of one mother on her way to the border? Are they pushing the agenda of the Left to have open borders?
It just doesn't seem right to push the needs of one while ignoring the same plight of many.

Because women here can get help thru free legal help and shelters for battered women and other programs to help them. They don't have that in third world countries.

Wut?
Again, since you seem to think there is a big difference between here and there, why don't you explain what that is
