If this surprises anyone, I'd be shocked.

North Korea is no more likely to destroy all of it's nukes than the USA is. No charm offensive, transparent insincere flattery nor cheap gifts are going to change that. It is not in their best interest and everyone knows that. The only question always is and was 'how and when do they call off the charade'.

Trump prides himself on being a deal-maker and he is a notorious braggart. Kim and his staff know this going in, and Trump comes on like a used car salesman in pinstripes.

Kim got what he wanted: recognition on the world stage, and a firmer grip on his cult and victims at home ... and he didn't even have to pay the hotel bill.

So apparently several here knows how this will play out? LOL! I'm not a fan of Trump by any means but he does understand that methods employed by previous administrations are precisely why the situation has become son critical. Perhaps we should let Obama negotiate! Oh wait, he passed this load of crap onto Trump! At this point in time one can't say if we will or will not have success...we should hope so!

The irony is that Kim/NK got more from Trump than from any other President in the last 60 years.

Trump by any standard is the greatest presidential putz in history.

The idea that Kim getting a meeting means anything is MSM myths. At worst, we're back where we started and at least Trump has a relationship unlike "sanctions" Obama.

Trump is so far outclassed that this is not even a contest. We just have to hope Trump doesn't get angered and start another war.
The general understanding is that Trump declared a victory, that the "deal was done" in his N. Korea visit, whereas in reality the rules of the game have not even been defined. Trump has two options: contradict himself and state that his visit was not a victory, or continue to lie and let the N. Koreans contradict him. N. Korea is calling the talks "regrettable". Under the circumstances, I believe the N. Koreans.
"North Korea says Pompeo made 'gangster-like' demands but Pompeo calls talks 'productive'."

Trump said the deal was done. He said that now we could all breath easily, right?

So many foreign policy experts here.

Disarm or we’ll nuke you!!

By comparison, they almost make Trump seem competent.

You don't think what this administration brought to the table was the same thing that had been brought by previous administrations..you just assume.

The approach was unique and showmanship -- but that wasn't effective.

The important part of any deal would be the conditions, the real substance of the agreement.

North Korea did not agree to conditions from previous administrations and they didn't with this one.

Your trying to make it like they (the Trump gang) did something better than others is futile.

It is clear North Korea was playing along for the show, had no intention of complying.

They played along until they didn't -- exactly what they did with previous administrations.

Yes, it was still a try -- but to pretend Trump got any further or did anything better is ridiculous.

Nope that's not at all what we have here.

We have a bunch of people who knew that the likelihood of North Korea complying to the conditions set out by the USA was nil to none. That's not being a foreign policy expert....that's just being real.

That show cost us millions -- and for what.

And Trump finally got to be a star in a full length feature film, North Korea's fifth sequel to, "The Country I Saw!"

Quote:
“The Country I Saw” was a five-part series of films produced by North Korea's state-run Chosun Art Film Studio that began airing in the late 1980s. The films tell the story of North Korea's pursuit of ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons; notably, the story is largely told from a Japanese point of view, with scenes involving academics and officials in Japan discussing the developments.
Quote:
Japanese politicians then talk about how sanctions have failed in North Korea and how the United States may use the fate of two imprisoned American journalists in the country to justify talks. Bill Richardson, the former governor of New Mexico who has served as an envoy to North Korea before, is listed as the probable leader of a U.S. delegation, much to the chagrin of the Japanese officials.
Quote:
The film then ends with a clip of former president Bill Clinton visiting North Korea as triumphant music plays — an ending that suggests that Pyongyang's nuclear gambit has forced the United States to send an even more important envoy to North Korea, Lewis wrote for 38 North
Quote:
Indeed, Trump appears to have gone further than this North Korea propaganda film envisioned — he is now expected to become the first sitting U.S. president to meet with a North Korean leader. “This is what his father and his grandfather wanted: to be on the same footing as the world’s greatest power,” Van Jackson, a former Pentagon official who now teaches at Victoria University in New Zealand, told The Washington Post.
A North Korean propaganda film foretold proposed talks between Trump and Kim Jong Un
