Where do you think that you've acquired the wisdom to call unions relics, Fox News? Why don't you look at your sources a bit more closely.
Sheesh ! as many have already told you PUBLIC UNIONS not private.... I've been in AFSCME, they are a bunch of blood suckers! Doesn't it seem strange that of the 10 largest unions in this Country 1,3,and 6 are Public sector? No wonder people are crying....

There is another wrinkle. A Trump administration's appointee Jonathan Mitchell is now suing in several states for the agency fees to be paid back to those not interested in joining the unions. NY Times article follows: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/18/b...es-lawyer.html

An attorney working for the unions said that the unions should be very nervous about this action.

The unions in our country are being systematically destroyed and we are not bright enough to do anything about it. So, it's the weekend. Go get your 12 pack and vegetate in front of the idiot box like you've been doing for years.
unions do more damage and conscript pay to feed the union leaders ensuring their healthcare insurance while taking it away form the members. Case in point iron workers union in central NJ. Horror stories of union impact on production. Laws enacted, prompted by union efforts form another century have replaced unions. Trade unions fine where apprenticeships are part of the skill set continuity. State, federal and municipal unions have to go.

Of course I realize this. I've been following the threat since it first materialized. As far as you caring is concerned, why respond if you don't care? There are a thousand other threads to choose from.

What you don't like is that I read newspapers and books and form opinions that don't jive with the Republican line.

From 1950 to 1980 New York City had a building boom like we may never see again. It was all done with union labor. I was proud to be part of it.

Yes. We realize that. And we think that's a good thing.
Hopefully, unions will disappear.

Not public sector unions...Steel workers, electricians construction trades are not typically public unions ( although I do know some public employees protected by the IBEW)

They just go along, believing what the union leaders are selling them.

Oh and as for anyone who thinks there should be no min wage, well what about those who think some of these union workers should be paid amounts almost equal to doctors is some cases. $50 an hour or more, with little or no overhead and probably no education to speak of? Of course some love their unions, why wouldn't they?

Davis Bacon is a bunch of crap and should be outlawed
These are amounts that are agreed to by contract and collective bargaining. They are both legal methods.
Ross Perot warned us that American wages would trend toward $6 per hour as globalization affected the American work place.

Doctors don't make $50 an hour. That's your copay.
