This trial in not about collusion it's about his lifestyle that he wanted to keep up with since he was going broke from all the expensive homes and things he bought and his Ukrainian money dried up. He was working for Trump for free and we know no one works for free so he sought out bank loans with false income documents and made promises of high level military position to the bank President.
What "prosecutorial missteps"? Or are you basing your opinion on nothing?
If you have not been paying attention you will never get the full impact of what Judge Ellis has had to do in this case.
So far, everyday Judge Ellis has had to reprimand the prosecution... and not just lightly.
It is very, very, very rare for a judge to ever interrupt the prosecution and stop the dictation of presented opening statements and evidence.
I don't know if it gets tossed, but is is also being defended by the Judge himself over shady prosecution tactics that border on unethical.
Calling it. The judge has no patience for the prosecutorial missteps. It will never reach the jury imho.
And they all lived happily ever after ! (all fairy tales end this way, and your theory on how this will end up is right up there with Little Red Riding Hood) This one is NOT going away, although you Trumpees would love to see that happen...….and so would your very worried little leader.
The judge is just making sure there is nothing to appeal after conviction.
That is what you took from that?
Last time a Judge got this involved in backhanding the prosecution, The Bundy's and all the Bunkerville Patriots, were freed and the Hammond's Pardoned.
Obviously the prosecution has Manafort dead to rights. But couldn't one Trumpie on the jury cause a mistrial? I wonder how many individual charges there are.
Remember, we have the best justice system money and power can buy!
You are 100% correct - chances are, in something this big, there could be a fix in somewhere along the way. I will be amazed if he sees what he should get....considering both trials that would be 10 or more serious years.
We already know it's largely legal to cheat, lie and steal. We just need this and the Trump admin to show us how far it can go.
Isn't it amazing how many poor kids were locked up for 5-15 for taking a joyride in a car?
Accountant says Manafort never told them he had foreign bank accounts
An accountant with Kositzka, Wicks & Company, which handled Paul Manafort's individual and business taxes, testified Thursday that Manafort never told them that he had foreign bank accounts.
This question is asked on IRS tax forms, and it's a crime to hide foreign bank accounts from the US government.
Manafort did not live in the USA and had not for a few years, when he had those bank accounts or made that money.
That money was then transferred into his US account and foreign accounts closed, once back in the USA and he set up a residence. (it was not immediate the day he returned, but a year afterward)
No, he is not required to pay income tax on that money.
He was not a US resident and you are not taxed for being a US Citizen.

He was working for free and looking for ways to milk his connection for all it was worth.

The Judge could issue a Summary Judgement that the prosecution failed to make a case...based on what I've heard so far, that could happen in this case.
