Despite domestic abuse allegations that would've torpedoed another politicians career a year ago, Democrats and #metoo activists are giving Minnesota Democrat Keith Ellison a pass. Where's the odious Kristen Gillibrand now? I guess it was politically easy to stab Al Franken and Bill Clinton in the back, they were just two old white guys. Ellison however is a black Muslim, checking off two of the liberals favorite protected classes.

And now, according to the NYT, one of the more vocal leaders of #metoo just paid off her own accuser

"But in the months that followed her revelations about Mr. Weinstein last October, Ms. Argento quietly arranged to pay $380,000 to her own accuser: Jimmy Bennett, a young actor and rock musician who said she had sexually assaulted him in a California hotel room years earlier, when he was only two months past his 17th birthday. She was 37. The age of consent in California is 18."

Wait... what?

The Italian actress and director Asia Argento was among the first women in the movie business to publicly accuse the producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. She became a leading figure in the #MeToo movement. Her boyfriend, the culinary television star Anthony Bourdain, eagerly joined the fight.

But in the months that followed her revelations about Mr. Weinstein last October, Ms. Argento quietly arranged to pay $380,000 to her own accuser: Jimmy Bennett, a young actor and rock musician who said she had sexually assaulted him in a California hotel room years earlier, when he was only two months past his 17th birthday. She was 37. The age of consent in California is 18.

She complained about Weinstein and she is guilty herself? And then paid him off?

I should not be surprised by this, but I am.

The theme continues... they accuse others of doing things that they themselves do. I really should be keeping a list.

When the left sacrificed Al Franken they thought they could still take Trump down with the #metoo movement. They needed to take down one of their own to show they weren't being partisan, and they chose him. Now that it looks pretty clear that they can't take Trump down with this movement there's no more need to pretend at bipartisanship here. The fact that he is black and muslim might also be a factor though, to be sure.

Don't be surprised if Franken gets his seat back before too long as well.

Yep. CNN already at the task...

CNN anchor runs defense for Al Franken, whitewashes sexual misconduct allegations

The disgraced former senator got a boost this week on CNN when anchor Alisyn Camerota downplayed the facts of his resignation.

“As you know, Al Franken resigned during this ‘Me Too’ moment, where he was seen pretending to grope a sleeping woman, before he was ever a senator,” the cable news host said in an interview with Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.

What really happened that wasn't mentioned on CNN...

Franken didn't step down from the Senate last December simply because he once pantomimed groping a sleeping woman and was caught on camera. His reluctant resignation came only after eight separate women had accused him of unwanted touching and kissing. In fact, the groping picture that Camerota referenced was part of a larger accusation by the woman in the picture that also included forced kissing.

I think #metoo has jumped the shark. This woman is a pretty huge hypocrite. How does one even open their mouth after doing what she did? Hopefully she enjoys her new orange jumpsuit.

And you have to wonder, did her husband, Anthony Bourdain know this dirty little secret before he killed himself? Such a troubling can of worms this all opens up.

To be fair, real sexual harassment or sexual assault is wrong and should not be socially condoned - by anyone.

That being said, what we are seeing here is that seeking to ruin and ostracize people from society or from political life is apparently too harsh of a standard for unsubstantiated accusations of sexual harassment (substantiated sexual assault is clearly another matter), as the leftists have now established by their own behavior.

Of course this was never a concern until the leftists decided to try to use it as a weapon to bring down Donald Trump - who was a Democrat himself during the years when his questionable behaviors supposedly occurred. And now we have seen a tsunami of "accusations" against Hollywood and journalistic types, nearly all of whom are supporters of the Democrat left.

Nothing beyond the standards that the left is currently applying to Keith Ellison here will be the applicable to Donald Trump going forward, regardless of any shrieking or whatever that the leftists engage in about this.

Double standards are on the way out and are already gone with regards to sexual harassment and sexual assault. That is a good thing, regardless of whether some people in our country realize it, or accept it, or not.
