If you want legal weed, that's one more reason to vote blue in November!
That's where you're wrong kiddo...

There are those of us on the right that disagree with subsidies going to farmers, legalize it, no more subsidies for farmers. They'll have a cash crop with demand.
Who cares about soy. Corn? With the uptick in munchies Doritos sales will sky rocket and use up the corn.

Regulate it like booze. 0 tolerance for DWI for booze/Devils lettuce.
Hippies want their pot needles. Conservatives hate welfare.
Get both.

If it were legal. I'd grow acres of it. The tax revenue from the sale would be in the millions/billions. Medical purposes, industrial/commercial purposes. Hemp fiber is similar to Kevlar in density. Soft armor for police. Weave it like fiberglass, use an epoxy and vacuum infusion to make boats or small airplanes.

I would hire dopes/dope felons to harvest, process, and package it for sale. Less welfare more tax payers. Lower taxes. Go from a deficit to a surplus.

Screw blue. Socialism = poverty.

Your post lays out why I am surprised it has little support here in NC. Given all the farming infrastructure is largely in place, farmers could stand to make a pretty penny.

I guess when it comes down to it, Religion is a helluva drug.

People claim its mainly the Evangelicals who oppose it, but the truth is that they are mostly silent about it.

Silent doesn't necessarily mean they are for it (or against it).

There is also an age thing to it. Pew had that report on Legalization from the start of 2018. Millenials support legalization at 70%, GenX at 66%.

Boomers were 56% and Silent at 35%.

So if I use 2010 Census data, 37.9% of NC is Boomer or Silent (and all voting age), Millennials and Xers represent 38.2% (and the last four Millennial birth years weren't of voting age in 2010).

My point was that the claim about them being outspoken opponents of it does not hold water.

You said the Silent Generation is 35%,m so what is the problem?

And that is a claim I didn't ever make. Never mentioned their outspokenness (or lack there of).

I shared the breakdown to identify there is an age thing to support as well that was all. Older folks support it less than younger ones, and older folks I would assume, but you know how that goes, vote more than younger, which is the younger people's problem.

The only poll I have found for NC on the issue is Medicinal is 80-20 in support of and 51-46 against recreational (which I admit is higher than I thought it would be). The sample size was pretty tiny however, 506 people.

Not talking about you per se. It is a common claim.

My mistake. I thought you were focusing on my points.

Never touched the crap myself, but if I were into making big money off from other people's stupidity, I'd invest big time. It's bound to be a huge moneymaker if one invests in the right corporations.

(disclaimer: I'm actually for legalizing it. Liberty and all that. Ultimately, stupidity causing no harm to others needn't be illegal)
Not everyone smokes it, some eat it. Also it's been pretty much a non-issue, at least here in BC for years. There are cannabis shops all over town, and apparently it's easy to buy.

I don't think much will change in who uses it or not when legalization takes affect. It will just free up police time, and take a lot of the criminal element out.

You don't have to buy from a corporation. You can grow up to four plants at home.
