I see nothing wrong with his using the military but I do disagree with you (which is rare) I am just not convinced a wall will be much help.

The country whose Army Corps of Engineers don't have founding to build levees that work will now reallocate resources to a symbolic wall, a monument to the Emperor's Ego?
If Trump uses the Corps, I hope they do a better job then they did on the levees in NOLA and Houston.
The will is a symbol, like TRUMP in big gold letters on buildings associated with Trump. The President is a real estate developer at heart, sees the world through that lens, and applies the solutions he learned there. He's not one to acknowledge that problems can be complex enough to not be solved with simple actions.
They have worked in limited situations, where illegals crossed on foot. I have no problem with using them there (although I suspect most of those places either have a wall or an equally effective way of keeping people out), but have a yuge problem with a big, "beautiful," symbolic boondoggle.

I see that one of your links states that a wall won't stop visa over stayers. Well, duh that's obvious so how is that a argument against the wall? The wall is meant to deter border jumpers. Visa over stayers will just have to be dealt with in a different manner obviously.
As for climbing the good walls there has only one case of that and they broke both of their legs trying. We also have technology called tunnel sensors. There are natural barriers to illegal entry where a wall wouldn't be necessary and the Border Patrol can take care of those areas. As for those who don't want to sell any of their land for the wall then let them deal with the illegals and drug cartels themselves. They'll be crying for a wall in no time. Any more lame arguments?

There are huge sections of the border not defender at all. Your statement makes our point.
Think about the amount of drugs needed to keep almost every single city in the country supplied!!! There may be some drugs that are coming in thru these unprotected areas,like being carried by someone, but the large quantities needed to keep up with demand all over the country, most of it is coming in by truck, train, shipping containers, etc. the amounts needed are just too large to be using people to literally carry it in.
There would be drug lulls and shortages all over the country if they were just using people to smuggle it in with backpacks! Years ago when I was an addict, there was NEVER a time when my dealer was out or even low in supply, think about the logistics involved in this, especially when its every city in the country!!
