The WP will be covering the trial. It will be interesting to see the demonic role the crown prince and even the US mob family, Individual 1 and Kushner played in downplaying or covering it up.
Eleven people accused by Saudi Arabia of involvement in the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi attended their first court hearing Thursday in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, according to a statement by the country’s general prosecutor that was carried by the state-run Saudi Press Agency. They are seeking the death penalty.
calling JK a journalist is like calling rush limpballs a journalist
JK was an opinionist for the Muslim brotherhood.... he was a terrorist who wanted world domination of islam
Jamal Khashoggi was not a journalist. He was a Qatari/Turkish spy, working against his home country of Saudi Arabia, using the Washington Post, (a known CIA mouthpiece) as his vehicle.
Even the WaPo grudgingly admits this now that they read his texts.
What's most shocking is that the WashingPoo admitted it.

His texts showed he was taking orders from the Qatar Foundation, on what topics to cover, how to cover them and often being told to be more aggressive and critical of Saudi Arabia. His intent, and likely the intent of the WaPo (a known CIA mouthpiece), was the shifting of US policy against Saudi Arabia and towards the Iran-Turkey-Qatar alliance. Looks like you bought it hook, line and sinker. Even the WaPo grudgingly admits this now that they read his texts.

Strange isn't it:
"Editors at The Post’s opinion section, which is separate from the newsroom, said they were unaware of these arrangements, or his effort to secure Saudi funding for a think tank. “The proof of Jamal’s independence is in his journalism,” Fred Hiatt, editorial page editor of The Post, said in a statement. “Jamal had every opportunity to curry favor and to make life more comfortable for himself, but he chose exile and — as anyone reading his work can see — could not be tempted or corrupted.”
<snip>
To friends and family members, Khashoggi’s connections were indicative of his intellectual curiosity and disregard for rigid national, religious and ideological boundaries. He traveled constantly, attended dozens of conferences each year and developed long-standing friendships with people whose opinions were at odds with his own." Read the rest of it including Mason's snippet here: Jamal Khashoggi’s final months as an exile in the long shadow of Saudi Arabia
"The narrative focusing on the death of Jamal Khashoggi was to be put into the service of both Qatar and Turkey’s main interest, undermining the stability of its rival, Saudi Arabia. When complete, the successful information operation would depict Khashoggi a heroic martyr to independent journalism and freedom, while Saudi Arabia would be the embodiment of evil and callousness. It is clear now that, not only was Khashoggi transmogrified in death into a major front in Qatar’s war on its Gulf neighbors; in life, he was Qatar’s asset in that war, as well. The effort to transform Khashoggi from the political operative he was into a journalist and martyr for freedom was an information operation waged largely in the United States.
It targeted a diverse audience spanning from “echo chamber” commentators and media figures to politicians, who would then be moved to act based on the new attitude and information the campaign had inserted into the discussion."
It's amazing how Individual 1 supporters will do anything to discredit an opposition even in death. They know no low bottom. Conspiracy theories from the right=fake news.

"Among Khashoggi’s friends in the United States were individuals with real or imagined affiliations with the Islamist group the Muslim Brotherhood, and an Islamic advocacy organization, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, regarded warily for its support of the public uprisings of the Arab Spring. Khashoggi cultivated ties with senior officials in the Turkish government, also viewed with deep distrust by the rulers in Saudi Arabia.
Perhaps most problematic for Khashoggi were his connections to an organization funded by Saudi Arabia’s regional nemesis, Qatar. Text messages between Khashoggi and an executive at Qatar Foundation International show that the executive, Maggie Mitchell Salem, at times shaped the columns he submitted to The Washington Post, proposing topics, drafting material and prodding him to take a harder line against the Saudi government. Khashoggi also appears to have relied on a researcher and translator affiliated with the organization, which promotes Arabic-language education in the United States."
This is a good realistic picture of events. We cannot employ our idealistic, "feel-good" values to cultures that "live by the sword, and die by the sword." If the Iran-Qatar-Turkey axis prevails you wind up with regional war, not Jeffersonian democracy and the Age of Aquarius.

It's actually the WaPo who admitted it.
Again, Khashoggi was not a "journalist", any more than Mitt Romney is a "journalist" for also having been published in the WaPo.
He was a career intelligence asset. He'd palled around with Osama Bin Laden in the 1980's. He worked his way up in the Muslim Brotherhood. He did some gun running. He partnered up with Muslim Brotherhood affiliated Turkey, Qatar & Iran to lobby for foreign policy change away from Saudi Arabia, towards Turkey, Qatar & Iran.
He was also an unregistered foreign agent (FARA). The WaPo has admitted Khashoggi was being fed stories, edited and encouraged to write more negatively about Saudi Arabia, by the Qatar Foundation. Are they even vetting who they print at the WaPo anymore? Why would the WaPo be interested in someone working for the Qatar Foundation, who's sole purpose was to frame Saudi Arabia in a negative light in the US media?

As I'm sure you know, but others likely do not, the exact same swamp creatures who crafted/continue to support the Iran nuclear deal, were first in line to denounce Saudi Arabia's actions & Trump's refusal to sever ties with them. Very interesting.
In layman's terms Khashoggi was a spy. A turncoat working against his own country. He got killed for it. Is that ok? No. However, there's nothing we know about Saudi Arabia now, that we didn't know before the killing. It's certainly not worth damaging our alliance with the Saudis over. It's the Saudi presence in Syria, on their own dime btw, and by protecting the Kurds from Turkey, that will allow us to withdraw from Syria.
This was never about the murder of a courageous journalist, fighting the repressive regime of Saudi Arabia. It was about players in the Turkey-Qatar-Iran-Deep state alliance, using the killing to launch a PR campaign to shift foreign policy in their favor.

Besides the link to the extreme right-wing site, there is nothing verifying that the WaPo admitted any of that. If you go to their site right now and search his name and information, it will display the same information I posted.
You will also find their commitment to covering the trial as the prosecutors seek the death penalty for his murder. Since your source is another Deep State conspiracy, I will go with what the WaPo says and verifies. They consider him a contributing journalist.

Editor’s note: Jamal Khashoggi is a Saudi journalist and author, and a columnist for Washington Post Global Opinions. Khashoggi’s words should appear in the space above, but he has not been heard from since he entered a Saudi consulate in Istanbul for a routine consular matter on Tuesday afternoon.
Jamal Khashoggi, a veteran Saudi journalist, was killed in Istanbul after walking into the consulate of Saudi Arabia, according to Turkish officials. In a statement released Saturday, Fred Hiatt, The Post’s editorial page editor, said that if true, this would represent “a monstrous and unfathomable act.”
Khashoggi had been writing a column for The Post’s Global Opinions section since last year. “He lamented that Saudi Arabia’s repression was becoming unbearable to the point of his decision to leave the country and live in exile in Washington,” wrote Karen Attiah, Khashoggi’s editor, on Wednesday.
Hiatt, in his statement, called Khashoggi a “committed, courageous journalist.”
“He writes out of a sense of love for his country and deep faith in human dignity and freedom,” Hiatt said. “We have been enormously proud to publish his writing.”

Saudi Arabia wasn’t always this repressive. Now it’s unbearable. – Sept. 18, 2017
