Elizabeth Warren claimed publicly to be of Cherokee ancestry.
Yes, she had family who said such. And she has a small amount of native american heritage. It is impossible to know what tribe that ancestry is from.

The Cherokees have extensive genealogical records and family trees that they have maintained quite carefully. I myself can trace my ancestry back through my Grandmother on my father's side, who was 3/4 Cherokee, with the papers and the currently living Cherokee relatives to prove it.
Cool story bro. But this isn't about you. Not knowing a name from 6 generations ago does not mean that the person did not exist and was not cherokee.

There are actually quite a few Cherokees still alive in this country, and that has always been the case. This is not some extinct band like the neanderthals that you have to do some sort of really sketchy DNA test with all kinds of extrapolations. The Cherokees were not the barbarians that some of you "enlightened" leftists would apparently like to hold them out to be. They have extensive family genealogies and records, and the Cherokee Nation has administrators of those records, and are responsible for determining if someone is actually genealogically affiliated with the Cherokee tribe.
Your issues are showing. No one called them barbarians. The irish don't have record back much further than the mid 1700s. This is not a sign of barbarism, its just a sign of poor record keeping. Just because my irish ancestors got her before than does not mean I am not irish. It just means I don't have any records saying such.

Or, not. Which the Cherokee Nation leaders have announced decisively here is the case with Elizabeth Warren. She is not, even though she has publicly stated that she is.
THEY SAID SHE ISN'T A CITIZEN OF THE CHEROKEE NATION. Not that she had no cherokee ancestry. Why? Because they, unlike you, have no idea whether or not her ancestry is cherokee or some other tribe.
Here is a really simple question, can someone have ancestry from a nation without being a citizen of that nation?
"Noise" is considered to be 1% or less (can be ignored).
Just for laughs, I ran my raw dna through Gedmatch again. According to this I have 4.3% Amerindian on Chromosome 6, 4.4 on Chromosome 17 and 3% on Chromosome 19 with assorted lesser amounts on the others. In reality, I have none so depending on the program used, you can come up with any results you want.
That's what I think. Warren's Amerindian matching DNA is so insignificant and indeterminate and she just got a sympathetic expert to claim it is from Amerindian ancestry.
No she is not asking to be part of the tribe, but she did exploit the tribe in order to gain a personal advantage, and is now exploiting DNA tests to win political points.
What personal advantage? She did not put it on college or job apps, and it only came up as a secondary item after she was hired at Harvard.
Also, read this lady's tweets from 2016. They are on this site because thereaderapp wasn't a thing yet, and Twitter didn't allow multiple message threads at the time. By posting them on this page, it is easier to follow along. She explains why DNA doesn't mean jack all in proving anything about Warren, and goes into detail as to why:
THEY SAID SHE ISN'T A CITIZEN OF THE CHEROKEE NATION. Not that she had no cherokee ancestry. Why? Because they, unlike you, have no idea whether or not her ancestry is cherokee or some other tribe.
That is only a skin-deep assessment of their response. The messaging is such that they are trying to distance themselves from her claims.
They may have explicitly said that the DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship, but what they implied was: "We think what you did was despicable, and we want you to stop using our status as Native Americans to your advantage, Mrs. 1/200th Native American..."
She was deceptive claiming this heritage. She did this so she could become a minority law professor. She tried to rig her career to which she is not entitled.
