... With the exception of forest products and grain, YTD comparisons are still positive in Canada.
But look at what has happened in the US. All of the YTD and YoY weekly comparisons have collapsed, and the latter have turned completely flat or negative.
This is incontrovertible evidence that Trump's tariffs are hitting US agriculture - and transportation - hard.
Essentially, railcar loadings in Canada are doing just fine, but in the US they showing clear signs of weakness.
There's always been a boat export tax for Europe, and its high so the 10% for Canada still makes it more advantageous than selling to an EU client. Although a smart client will import the boat into the Channel Islands or Gibraltar to avoid the VAT.
Manufacturing workers, business, and even ordinary people have been complaining for decades about unfair trade policies. They were mostly ignored. Until Trump came along and gave those people a voice again. Trump decided to act on their sentiment, making him a man of the people, first and foremost. Something most Americans have not witnessed in their life. Also, the world has not witness America standing up for itself in such a manner.

"Since NAFTA started, over half of Wisconsin’s overall $3.4 billion gain in world exports went to Mexico
and Canada. In other words, the state’s exports to just two of the world’s 170-plus nations accounted for over
half its rise in exports since 1994. Mexico and Canada are now among the most dependable markets for
Wisconsin. For instance, from 1997-98, among its top 7 export markets, Wisconsin saw a rise in exports
only to Mexico and Canada, and those rises were at double-digit levels."
" Overall, since NAFTA started, Kenosha’s combined exports to Mexico and Canada have increased by
a staggering 745%. This NAFTA jump was led by Kenosha exports to Canada, which have increased 827%
under NAFTA."

Always refreshing to see FACTS thrown in the face of right wing rhetoric
If liberals created tariffs, the right wing would be going nuts over "job killing taxes"
The Obama administration did put tariffs on Chinese steel. Pretty significant ones that got a reaction from Beijing. Conservatives weren't whining about it from what I recall.
