Most of the foreign IT workers here were already returning home. Their countries have more stability now and they money buys them more at home.

I don't think China's IT workers are doing very well. The economy there has taken a big hit recently.
Jobs are starting to slowly shift from China to the US.

Someone said that H1B and H4 workers are a small percentage in the US. That is correct.

No one said what that percentage is in the Bay Area and Seattle. Well, it's quite significant.

Many of these people are cheap labor. Most of them have unverifiable work experience. Most of them have advanced degrees, again, unverifiable. Most of them have the "born with" trait of being able to sweet talk you in pretty much any situation.

What does that translate to? A very high number of Indians in the Bay Area and Seattle. At least for where i live, in the Bay, the numbers have increased to a insane degree. There are entire cities that are pretty much populated by Indians. Entire new developments in South Bay and around Dublin/Pleasanton area also almost exclusively populated by Indians.
Actual numbers don't exist since this boom has happened after 2011-2012. Not to mention, even if there was a census, they would refuse to be counted.
However, it would not be a far fetched guess to say that their number (including wives, kids, parents) is either approaching the million or is already surpassed.

They have bought a great deal of real estate, plenty of "support services" have been built around them as well, shopping centers, restaurants etc, they lease cars so much that many of the dealerships in the area won't even bother entertaining actual buyers, and even the Costcos around have had to adjust their inventory to accommodate them. On curious fact on the Fremont Costco, they don't give out samples anymore. First time we went there we felt as if we were in India. 6 people (3 generations) per 1 cart, pretty much all over the store. Impossible to move.

The key word I would truly like to have you remember is "unverifiable"
Work experience - unverifiable
Schooling - unverifiable

So do with this what you wish.

You can add DFW to that bucket, particularly the suburbs of Frisco, Plano, Coppell, and the Valley Ranch area of Irving.

Many of these unverifiables have potentially taken jobs away from US workers whom have verifiable degrees, etc. I blame the companies that hire them as well as politicians that push H1B programs. The H4ead was not in American's best interest.

“Obama had no authority to make the [H4EAD work-permit] rule, and there was never any studies or research performed to see how the rule would affect American workers,†said Dawn Casey, who helps run the Protect US Workers advocacy group.

Most Americans had no idea Obama had given work permits to the spouses and children of foreigners on H1B visas. The work permits to over 100,000 spouses of H1B foreigners was done quietly by an Executive Order. It became very apparent in 2016 that something had changed as it became very noticeable that laid off American co-workers were having a very hard time finding another job. During this time there were many reports of Americans training their foreign H1B replacements. These types of reports should have prompted an Executive Order to protect the American training their foreign replacements, not reward the spouses of the foreigners on H1B visas with work permits.

More good jobs are coming as the US ends the Obama outsourcing.
No official word on it yet. We ll know this month.

So true. My second biggest problem with them is their hygiene. Easily verifiable when having to set next to one in a meeting room. Unbelievable. A daily shower and deodorant should be mandatory.

https://www.glassdoor.com/research/h1b-workers/

Outsourcing to contract agencies in other countries is what hurts.... they can undercut with cheap labor due to manipulated, subsidized, low cost of living, of low paid labor.

H1B is not the equivalent..... they have to work, live and similar expenses as they reside in the US.

I do agree though... we shouldn't be extending work permits to their spouses.

But hey, cronies must be enriched with cheap labor, right? Who cares about people who want to work for a living here in the USA? Get that cheap labor over here! Those cronies are getting impatient!
