Lol. You're sounding a little bitter this morning. Have a cup of coffee and take a deep breath. It's gonna be quite a show.

What happened is really what we should have expected would happen. The constitution gives special protection to small states by giving each state 2 senators. Without each state having just two senators the most populous states would simply rule the rest. The biggest cities would be the political power base, rural America would simply do what its told. Rural America has its say through the US senate, that is where we have our say. As we all saw last night the west coast and northeast socialists won the house. We red state conservatives won the senate. Obviously holding the senate means we also have a large say over the courts....especially when our side controls the executive branch as well. Yes the left is done legislating from the bench

This split decision by voters may be something we commonly see in the future. Our serious political divisions may manifest themselves long term into a congress divided between a republican senate and leftist house. No doubt our federal government will struggle to function and it may spend more time ahut down than not. The main business of the house will be endless investigation of conservatives and the Senates main function will be rubber stamping far right appointees to federal positions and courts. It’s also likely that republicans will hold an advantage in presidential elections given our electoral college system which also gives a slight advantage to small states (which tend to be red). Welcome to the new America...... your federal government is now essentially worthless, incapable of even the most simple tasks.

The judges are a done deal. History. A lot legislating and un-legislating can be done through controlling the purse. It's a powerful tool and has been used by houses existing under similar circumstances in the past to great effect.

You definitely have the power to deadlock the government. All you have is the slimmest of majorities in the house and have lost ground in senate. This was no blue wave lol Sadly y’all did gain some power and now nothing will get done at all. A government shutdown is now unavoidable, as you said they control the purse so I am sure that power will be used. Republicans won’t give in and the government will shutdown, maybe for months, maybe really long term. There is a reckoning coming for this country regarding these divisions and a non functional federal government is likely the first step in that.

We just have a different vision for America, and how we improve the lives of most Americans. I agree with a portion of your content.

As for the Governors and Senate, which the Pubs gained - Trump is set for 2020, he will need those Governors. His agenda will be stalled for two years as the left continue to resist. THAT is not what their constituents wanted.

BTW, with the vast majority in the Senate (+5) Trump will own the judiciary. The benches will be stacked with Constitutional/Originalist judges. The Republicans haven't had the SCOTUS and Circuit courts for 60 years. Think about that.

Pat yourselves on the back for taking the house. A battle won for sure. With the crazy lineup (Waters going after banks, the rest going for impeachment) you have set yourselves up to lose 2020, bigly.

Write it down, watch it happen.

Because there aren't the ritual deflections and push back, I can only think you're actually coming to the realization that Trump played his best hand. He got exactly what he wanted.

Sorry to be the bringer of reality.

6 more years of Trump, OMG! Be happy you took the house. Let's see if you can keep it. I doubt it. If you continue on the socialist bent, there's no way. You're destroying the Democrat party.
How would you know what all these people constituents, from all over the country wanted?

I guess it's pointless.

No... he's not. Don't kid yourself. He's not "smart."

That's why he spends time doing rallies and letting his public "adore" him instead of making actual deals and working on the economy. He's not "smart" because he's not even trying to govern all of the people in this country... those of us who don't support him aren't Americans to him.. we are ENEMIES.

That's not smart governing. He's in this to make everything as dramatic as possible. He still thinks he's running a reality show, not a country.

So, no... he's not smart... cunning? Sometimes. But, his type always are.

I think you make some good points here. Trump always gives his opponents a few crumbs to munch on and occupy them while he focuses on the bigger picture and staying several steps ahead. Looks like it might be working since all they can think about are his tax returns and impeachment.
