We're teaching kids to be intolerant whiners with this kind of thing.
You know what would have happened if we would have gone to someone to say a teacher's comment hurt us? The principal would have told us to grow up and the teacher would have razzed us for the rest of the year for being overly sensitive little babies.
The irony of the school's comment that the classroom didn't cultivate an atmosphere of acceptance of views of others isn't lost on most of us. It's all one-sided.

When did saying/standing, or not, for the anthem become solely about respecting vets? There are many other reasons for standing or not for the anthem. I served and have lost friends and family to war & service. The teacher doesn't speak for me with his "all".
The teacher should have just said the Pledge and kept his jingoistic thoughts to himself. Firing seems a bit extreme, but the teacher was wrong both in what he said and in saying it at all.
