FDA chief Scott Gottlieb recently said that the e-cigs are now 'epidemic' among children. Numbers show a 75% increase in use among high schoolers. He threatened a ban on the use of flavored versions which are obviously intended to lure in children.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...tte-maker-juul

In October, the FDA conducted a raid on Juul, the leading maker of these devilish devices. Marketing documents were seized, obviously in order to investigate the company's marketing to youth.

Here in King County, WA, we long ago passed an initiative greatly restricting public smoking. When the e-cigs came along, users argued that the restrictions should not apply to them, since they were only producing 'water vapor.' The county health dept. wisely said no. There were people smoking the e-cigs at bus stops, etc. creating a bad example for children.

I'd say it is past time to crack down on these literally infernal devices. I'm not sure exactly what the regulations should entail, but clearly something must be done. What do you think?

Legalize pot and ban e-cigs.

They help many people give up smoking much like patches.

I am quite divided. Personally, I was able to quit a 40 year smoking history in 2009 by using e-cigarettes (and they were pretty crappy back then). I still vape, although with very weak nicotine in the liquid.

Yet, I am appalled at the 'flavors' offered. I can't imagine any former smoker like me (Marlboro, Camels) thinking of vaping bubble gum flavor, mango, or what have you. These flavors are obviously for the youth.

I will note that I have tried the 'Juul' e-cigarette: the harshness of the hit is appalling, regardless of flavor. Makes the old filter-less Camels seem smooth. These youths must have throats and lungs of steel.

when "vaping" becomes common in mainstream movies/TV, it will skyrocket.

One of the choices is "completely ban them; they are not needed."

And pot IS needed?

For those of you choosing that option, hypocritical much are you?

Do you really want to go there? What IS actually NEEDED for a human to sustain life? Food, Water, Shelter, and Clothing (in some cases). Should we ban everything else because it is "not needed"?

Tired of the government running my life. I'm with Frank. It's up to the parents.

There are fruity strains of weed, and many sweet flavored edibles, like rice crispy treat and gummies. Those must be to lure children too? How about chocolate flavored vodka. There are sweet flavorings in everything now that used to taste bad to kids - coffee, beer, weed, cigarettes, etc. I think it is to attract more women and nu-males to use them, and try all the yummy flavors.
