How accurate do you think you would be in identifying a persons party affiliation just by looking at them?

50 year old black guy....probably democrat. 60 year old white guy with a resting frown face.....Republican.

I tried playing that game in line to vote this morning, but snap judgements based on outer appearances are super inaccurate, so, no.

The Democrats have blue stamped on their forehead. The Republicans have red stamped on their forehead.

It's interesting. I actually played a similar game last weekend. There were 6 women I had never seen before discussing politics and the upcoming election on tv. I bet my friend I could identify their party by only watching their interactions and body language, with the sound turned down. (Full disclosure. One of the women was identified as a Republican by text on the screen, but I had already made up my mind about her)

I scored 100%. It may have been a complete fluke, but I think I'll try it again a couple more times.

Well....the majority of blacks vote democrat. The majority of white males vote republican. That said, I find that there is a "look" that many conservatives/republicans have. I don't know.....when I lived in the South as a transplant from the North, I could tell a person from up North 9 times out of 10. Also, being from Michigan I could spot a person who had that look. I was in a store once I seen a guy in one of the Isle and the first thing I thought was that the guy looked like he was from Detroit. As I got closer, I seen the guy had a coat that had "7 Mile" on it. I was like yep.

Check knuckles for signs of dragging. That's a good indicator. Breathing with mouth open is another.

I have done the same thing and multiple times and I would say I am right about 75-80% of the time.

I certainly hope not.. more to the point, i don't even try. I don't want to know to be honest. As soon as you know their political leanings you start to stereo type them unfairly, IMO..

You should not talk about Democrats that way.

Interesting. What would be the consequences of these stereotypes, if you invoked them? Would you not hire them, date them, respect them, trust them, etc? Your theory certainly explains why race prejudice is often a self fulfilling prophecy. If you don't know that a persons race is different from yours, you can't treat them differently to self fulfill your beliefs.
