“We listened. And we updated Macys.com so that our customers now see more balanced pj images when shopping online with us.
Check out their updated "Christmas family pajamas" page. They've added a new black family with black dad intact. Plus they added an Asian dude with three kids, but he's with the black guy's wife! And they've thown in another huge white family with dog knocking the whole thing out of balance again. Macy's has gone from the frying pan into the fire...
There are people with a weird mindset who actually look for things to be offended by. It makes their day. They put a lot of energy into it. Too bad they don't focus on something positive instead of this nonsense. I could find dozens of things to be offended by if I tried - but I don't. I have better things to do with my time. This whole thing is completely out of hand.
Yep. And I know some people like Mr. Jeff Pastor. They are the same people who spend hours upon hours on social media sites, sometimes until 3 in the morning on a weeknight just looking for something that upsets them. Whatever floats their boat I guess but I don't get it either.
However, none of these people I know are in positions of political power like councilman Pastor, who really should devote his time to actual problems, not who is and who isn't in an ad that will be forgotten about next month, for a Department store.
And why are the dogs pictured only with white people? Macy's is perpetuating the myth that black people don't like dogs!
I've known more than a few black women who are deathly afraid of dogs. My theory is that there are many pit bulls in the urban areas they grew up in or now live. And even being a dog lover myself, I am afraid of dogs.
When these women tell me of their fears, I tell them to never directly stare into a strange dog's eyes, don't show fear, and also to never run away from a dog either.
I get it. Companies trying too hard but miss the mark anyway and insecure people looking for any opportunity to be offended. Chances are none of the offended bought pajamas nor did they intend to buy pajamas.
I didn't see any elderly people, overweight people, tattooed people, little persons, physically challenged people, or obviously transgendered people. What kind of crap message is Macy's trying to send us?
ONE family is apparently into bestiality, okay they get a half point for that.

Or, some 'FREE' advertisement... and maybe some laughter... all the way to the bank.
I think the "we listened, thank you for your feedback" part is more disturbing.
The more you give these crazy people attention, they more crazier they are going to act.
I just read the article. Funny thing none of the tweets posted in the story said it was racist. Whether or not it was intentional it does subliminal reinforce a message and there is nothing wrong with saying something about.
If they showed a traditional black, latino, and asian family, with only a white gay or single mother family, there would be white people offended also. I wouldn't blame them either.
As a bonus black people will take the heat as being sensitive, while Macy's corrects themselves by also leaving out asian people, who also complain about low media representation. 2 for 1 special. I don't say this as a knock against asian people.
