19 of 20 World Leaders Just Pledged to Fight Climate Change. Trump Was the Lone Holdout.

Trump is not alone in this position. Probably 60% or more of Republicans in the US also have doubts, due to the dis-information campaign largely funded by the Koch brothers (and pushed by popular pundit-commentators like Rush, Glenn & Sean). What makes Trump, the pundits and the other Republican leaders different from their base is that most of them know that human influenced global warming is actually real, and they are perpetrating the lies for political-economic reasons.

"Grant me chastity and continence, but not yet."
Augustine of Hippo

The reality does not change, people (regardless of what they wish to believe) will be harmed by this. The legacy of ...
[1] opposing efforts to reduce carbon and methane emissions,
[2] obscuring the science and perpetuating doubts about the science, and
[3] refusing to even make practical plans for the changes we are facing
... will stick with the Republicans and damage the Republican party long term (even for a multi-generational era), and this stubborn opposition to concerted world efforts by Trump we are now witnessing (in real time) will be regarded as a political crime against humanity.

Sort of like saying, "Jim left his lawn sprinklers running five minutes longer than he should have, water can flood cities, therefore Jim is flooding cities."

And papers that relate statements like the above, using many erudite pages, but which ultimately refer to another paper for proof. And sure enough, that other paper carries on for more pages, but refers to yet another. And that one points to yet another etc.

Are there any actual studies that methodically prove that man is generating enough to overwhelm the earth's natural tendencies to absorb them? And do more to change the climate than the sun (a nuclear bomb a million times the size of the entire planet), all the volcanoes on Earth, and everything else that has been varying the Earth's climate long before man learned how to use tools?

Not just guesses, not just "everybody knows that...", not just references, not just "but it must be true that...".

Where is any proof that man's activities have any effect on climate? And/or can do anything to change it back?
No, which is why it's not a settled science, but rather a theory. A theory based on models. Models that output data, based on the data input by scientists who may not always be concerned with the truth.

If it was proven factually, it would be the single largest news event of the past 50 years. Proving it factually would mean they can determine precisely how much of climate change comes from humans, precisely what the temperature will be next year, in 20 years, precisely how the temperature will respond if we reduce emission by X%, precisely which year the "point of no return" is, whether or not warming can be slowed or reversed, precisely what the optimal temperature should be, etc.

What we have now is the scientists saying they "believe, with a high level of confidence" that humans are contributing to climate change.

I doubt anything President Trump does will appease those who hate him. Please note, I did not vote for him and find the lack of tolerance, constant hatred, lack of respect for the Office and violence enough to turn me away from the opposing party.

The dumbing down of America is almost complete, and I fear irreversible.
The dummies are the ones who would accept something as politically & economically impacting as AGW, with scientists abandoning the 'scientific method', offering vague generalities instead of hard data, with failed prediction/model after failed prediction/model to review & after having been caught repeatedly faking the 'science' to support their theories.

So basically he is not BS'ing as the other leaders are. A freaking pledge means about zero, it is just pure BS political grand standing. They will take zero action due to this pledge.

The Earth's climate has been changing non-stop for about 4.5 billion years now, and these people want to fight against that.

What a bunch of fools.

Totally agree. The left just makes up the numbers as they go along. When they don't have numbers they plug in numbers to make themselves feel good and keep the story alive.

What is "consumption"?? ...are you saying we consume more CO2 than we emit?

Global warming is only about CO2 emissions....global warming does not care how much money a country makes..or it's population...only how much CO2 that country puts in the air

China has increased their emissions so much, it no longer matters what we do.....just 12 years ago, China had the same emissions as the USA...in just 12 years, China now emits twice as much CO2 as the USA

...and if anyone is stupid enough to believe...with all the corruption in China...that China could come even close to estimating what their real CO2 emissions are

No other country has reduced their CO2 emissions as much as the USA...that's a fact

USA emissions are back to 1991 levels....CO2 was ~350 in 1991....left up to the USA CO2 levels would be back at 1991 levels.....a drop of 50ppm....back to 350ppm

It's no longer a USA problem....the USA has done more than any other country...signing some stupid agreement.....when it's all the other countries that have done nothing

Pay them for what?? More fun filled vacations to discuss what they are going to do?

The only thing they agree is the vast majority of countries are "developing" and they get paid to increase their CO2 emissions

They don't even believe this crap...if they did, they would actually do something about it
