Democrats quietly legalized it in 2016 so they could win more seats. Meanwhile they complain about exactly the same in NC.

I voted in favor of eliminating the practice.
A voter can go to the polls, or drop a ballot in a mailbox, or take it to the county elections office at the courthouse. A family member can assist a voter, but a total stranger can not.

Anyone who is incapable of doing one of those actions, so sad, you don't get to vote!
If your ballot isn't mailed in time, and gets to the elections office the day after election day (or later), it gets thrown out, regardless of the postmark. It MUST be in the elections office by the time the polls close on election day, period!
Any one who shows up at the polls MUST have identification. Strangely, there have been no lawsuits over voter identification requirements. Apparently Montanans don't have a problem with identifying themselves as people in other states seem to.

I am also glad that nearly all voting in Montana is by paper ballot, and the ballots are counted by electronic machines that are not connected to the internet. Any chance of hacking is nearly eliminated! Any recount is done by hand, not by machine.
Problem is the same with mail ballots or those harvested. In general in fact it has been mail ballots that have been the source of fraud.

If you find a solution for mail ballots it will likely work for harvested ones.

Republicans do not seem to like harvesting as the Democrats are good at getting their vote in. But mail ballots the Republicans love as they are believed to lean well right.

I would also argue that the postmark should be the critical item on a mail ballot. Votes are not immediately final on poll day...trails off for days or weeks as provisional ballots and such are resolved.

Sorry but harvesting is illegal in NC and there is no indication those ballots cast that way were not fraudulent.

Well you appear to have called that too soon

California has the initiative process. Sounds like a good initiative waiting to happen. I'm sure the political class in CA likes it the way it is.

Ballot harvesting does not appear to be popular, judging by the poll, although the sample size is too tiny to conclude anything. Hopefully more people will vote; I think this is a very important issue.

It should be illegal. It breaks the chain of custody.

Or maybe they oppose the practice on ethical grounds, which the Democrats seem all too willing to engage in.

I have no problem with a relative such as a child or grandchild helping out their elderly relatives. However allowing political operatives to do so will undoubtedly invite fraud.

I offered to take my elderly neighbor to the polls even though I know she votes opposite of myself. I suspect that is a rarity, but to me every non violent felon citizen should be able to vote, regardless of whether they cancel out my vote or not.
I also do not tear down signs of politicians whom I oppose. Maybe that makes me an exception to the rule, but hopefully the vast majority of my fellow citizens are decent, law abiding citizens that believe in our freedom.
But considering some of the voter fraud and videos of mostly liberal/leftists doing the opposite, I am not willing to trust the moral compass of political operatives to do the right thing when it comes to helping others to cast their votes,
