My angry co-worker this morning chastised us and ridiculed us for potentially taking a couple of days off for the winter holiday season. She says that Christmas is a white supremacist holiday because it does not recognize that Jesus Christ was a Palestinian, not a white male.
She also said that we as Americans are profiting off the slave labor of black folk and the holiday is blatantly unjust to people of color, because white men get two weeks off from work and black and brown bodies do not.
This co-worker is pretty upfront about where she lies. She declared herself a Nina Turner or a Kamala Harris supporter and calls Beto O'Rourke and Joe Biden white conservative Democrats.
She wants a POC president.
Does the winter holiday season favor white people over other groups in America?
This sounds like a made up caricature. Everywhere I worked, nobody ever openly discussed politics, much less said anything controversial like that.
This is not a caricature. This is real. I work at a office supplies place. Things like this happen at work all the time. You can't say because you are not there. At my workplace, we are free to discuss politics because the boss wants it to be a place where we can have conversation and be free.
However, this particular coworker's leftist jeremiads is wearing some of my colleagues' thin.
The holiday season should be a time of reflection and joy, I suppose.
This time of year. The November-January holiday season. That is what it is.
