I was born in 52. I got a degree in electronics in 73 that included integrated circuits and logic and I got my first scientific calculator that cost $150. By 77 I was dabbling in computers including the TI99 and a bootleg Apple IIe I built from scratch. Along the way I programmed in C, Java and numerous scripting languages. I started a dial in computer bulletin board in the 80s that gave way to an early 'on ramp' to the Internet via dial in modem that was so slow you could watch it paint the screen as it downloaded. I've been a early technology adopter most of my life yet I remember when the first television was brought into my home.

Now you obviously have access to almost any information at your finger tips 7/24. At least one main problem is learning to filter all the noise. Information that is biased, not factual, or lacks basis in science is as predominant as reliable information. It takes some skill, knowledge and back ground in order to filter out unreliable sources. Unfortunately a lot of people today lack those skills and will believe anything. Unfortunately there are also a lot of people (con artists) out there very skilled at presenting bad information as fact.

Instead of saying "female", they should have told you none of your business.

I am glad we do discuss some things. Nobody should be embarrassed or hush-hush about having a hysterectomy or a menstrual cycle.

Nobody should be embarrassed to purchase period products or condoms or birth control of any other kind.

Nobody should be embarrassed to buy creams for a yeast infection or lubricants for sexual activity.

I think we are rather silly in our Puritanical views of sexuality, while consuming more porn than people in countries where they are more sexually open.

That said, I have no desired to know what each Kardashian had for lunch.

And married couples don't sleep in twin beds anymore.

Things have changed a lot, and sometimes the changes are jarring to those of us who grew up in a more repressed time. But you know what? In spite of the excesses we see - it's still better. The truth is that human beings are extremely messy, and always have been. I don't think we do ourselves or anyone else any favors by pretending otherwise.

When I was a kid, the Sears catalog was the closest thing I ever got to Porno. Am I the only one who is just a little overwhelmed by the ''Information Age?''
Ignorance is bliss... for some. Some people love their shame.

I remember when I was going through chemo, one of my older colleagues approached me and said it made her feel very uncomfortable to see me in the office with a head scarf.

Made me uncomfortable, too, so I took that as my cue to eschew the scarf and walk around bald.

I'm glad the "information age" has made it so that uncomfortable topics like lady problems, bald heads from medical conditions, and mental health struggles are less taboo and shameful. My precious sensibilities aren't offended by engaging with real topics. I'm sorry for those for whom that is a challenge.

You are all wrong. "Female" are letters addressed to women.

You should have told to F off.

When I was going through chemo I had some drunk bimbo in an SF airport bar call me a skinhead. I guess she didn't notice that I was there with my Asian GF.

Sears Catalog? Didn't you guys have access to National Geographic????

On another note, why aren't any of the womenfolk offended that the word female is mostly compromised of the word male? I say it's time we take the male out of female. What say you, fe's?
