Here’s a quote from Dodson all the way back from 2007 in the Midland Reporter.

"Just think of what we could do here if we had a little more money," he said. "I could put 25 strategically placed men along the order at various points and it would make a big difference."

He doesn’t want a wall. He never has. He wants to have an enormous police force all of his own instead. He really loathes the idea of the power, the money, and the surplus equipment going elsewhere.

Default US ranchers near Mexico weigh in on border wall

“Our route through us is a drug and human smuggling route...as the cartel is squeezed at the points of entry, they will send more and more of their traffic between the points of entry because that is currently the weak link…no apprehension, no surveillance,” Sue said.

Hundreds of ranchers along the border, most of them life-long republicans, will see some of their land seized by Trump suing eminent domain.

I can't wait to see the reactions of many of these people who voted for Trump, who could possibly one day see a 30 foot wall of "steel slats" going straight across their lands.

End your unconstitutional war on drugs and welfare give aways and most if not all this border nonsense goes away. The owners/ranchers can then provide for their own securty, same as anyone else.

I don't understand why the border isn't federal property to begin with. People shouldn't be able to own land right up to the actual border, something like up to 50 yards from it or something and that 50 yard wide stretch all along the border is federal property.

Incidentally, at least 200 border patrol agents have been furloughed in the Rio Grande Valley, and more than 54,000 Customs and Border Protection employees nationwide are working without pay.

All they are doing is arguing about supposed less crime. The fact remains that 600 apprehensions a day equals 18,000 a month and that doesn't even count the number who aren't caught. But no big deal, right? Big fail of an article! Crime isn't the only thing that is the problem but the raping of our country by illegal immigration in so many ways. By the way, fleeing violence and poverty is not a viable reason to claim asylum here either.

In March 2018, 380 sheriffs from around the country signed a letter to Congress supporting construction of "the wall" (however, it is defined). San Diego local news points out their local sheriff did not sign.

Pull up a google map of the 13 Texas border counties. Compare that map to the signatories (shown by county). Not ONE of those sheriffs signed either.

This is hardly rocket science. CBP wants numbers as low as possible, and for that they should be commended. Border sheriffs are more in tune with the whole picture along the border. That includes not running a wall with access roads thru the approximately 5,000 private property holdings.

It's hardly a surprise that these folks - who not by and large are not liberals - do not want the immigration problem solved on their backs.

Ten years later he's saying that they should spend the money elsewhere.

Crime is way down and Dodson thinks the money would be better spent elsewhere.

Not on a wall.
