Separation of church and state. Religion doesn’t make the laws. Including your fake deities.
Seems that few people know what separation of church and state really is -- the establishment of government-sponsored religion, and the freedom to practice the religion of your choice.
It has nothing to do with religious traditions or laws, like sharia, which have no legal validity in the United States.

That poster has gotten more than one rep for each of his/her posts. You, on the other hand are not even close.
The 1st Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; ... ." The prohibition applies to state laws via the 14th Amendment.
Anyone who truly believes there's a 100% separation of church and state, an impregnable wall of separation, shouldn't have a problem with religious institutions having their own legal codes for their members. If Jews choose a synagogue that imposes the death penalty for adultery or stoning to death for violating the Sabbath, why shouldn't the 100% separation guaranteed by the Constitution give the religious law precedence over the civic law for people who submit themselves to those religious laws.
Religious organizations can spout whatever they want. They have no law-making nor enforcement authority, even against their own members, let alone the rest of us. I think that’s a GOOD thing. If your butt is hurt over this, I suggest you consult a pharmacist.

Absolutely for secular reasons myself. We do have death penalty in many states, at least with hands cut off the criminal is still alive but cannot steal anymore and will be embarrassed in public.
Do you think that observant Jewish and Muslim groups should be allowed to implement the penal code, such as stoning to death, burning, cutting hands of thieves, etc. to their own people/families as demanded by the Jewish and Islamic law?
Obviously this will only apply to Jews and Muslims themselves and in heavily Islamic and Jewish areas and neighborhoods only.
Shouldn’t First Amendment’s “Freedom of Religion” also apply towards penal code?
Religious courts are already allowed in this country for such things as divorce, etc.
And that includes Christian entities such as the Catholic church that is still relied upon to provide annulments (see Giuliani, Rudy.)
Of course, you want to paint Judaism and Islam as barbaric to serve some nonsensical ideas that you have about Christian supremacy, however, the fact remains that Christianity is, for all intents and purposes, a sub-set of Judaism.
Jesus, Himself, says that He did not come to overturn The Law, and He commands us to adhere to the (Ten) Commandments, the first two being most important.
Anyone who believes that the Old Testament is not relevant to Christianity is lying to themselves about what Jesus actually taught.
"Jesus further clarifies: “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:19)."

No, but we already have Jewish courts where certain issues are settled, but criminal infractions are always handled by US courts.

Religions often find ways to justify the unjustifiable. I'd bet Torquemada would've said burning people at the stake 'saved' people from their demons or that the Puritans would've justified drowning people in the pond because it proved they weren't the devil!
