EVERY SINGLE TIME the Dems caused a shutdown was because they weren't getting their way. Wake the F up already.

Because the democratic party did it makes it right??

Government Shutdowns:

Reagan--8
Bush-1
Clinton-2
Obama--1

So no, it hasn't always been the democratic party.

It did go through the proper channels. This law demands a fence along the southern border

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Fence_Act_of_2006

Unless you can show me a superseding document that cancels this, what the Dems are doing now is unconstitutional

Glad you brought that to our attention.

The Act was revised, as you probably know. THe Department of Homeland Security successfully argued to Congress "that different border terrains required different types of fencing, that a one-size-fits-all approach across the entire border didn't make sense."

Which is EXACTLY what the Democrats, and anyone with common sense has been saying. Walls may work well in urban areas. They don't make sense in mountainous areas or where the Rio Grande is the border.

Let's spend our money wisely. Trump's blind ambition to "build a wall" along every foot of the border never made any sense. In fact it will make us LESS secure, since we will be distracting $$ and resources away from more effective border security strategies.

Trump is in the real world now, with real consequences, and he does not know how to deal with it.

Very informative USA Today article that says you are incorrect. Lots of vehicle barriers that can be very easily traversed on foot along with longs stretches of fencing that have holes that allow vehicles to pass.

https://www.usatoday.com/border-wall...ve-border-map/

And when did Trump specify that there needed to be a fence along every foot of the border?

And Trump only moves at one pace.

Total nonsense. I don't think Trump is capable of storming in or out of anywhere.

Continue fighting.
You think he's too fat to storm out? Have you not seen his character?

A fence is not a wall.
Fence: barrier intended to prevent escape or intrusion or to mark a boundary
Wall: a high thick masonry structure forming a long rampart or an enclosure chiefly for defense —often used in plural

Similar but different.

Grandpa's and grandma behaving badly. Who'd of thunk it?

Does it matter who stormed out and who didn't. The dysfunction stops with Trump. The bottom line should be about his ridiculous demand and holding hundreds of thousands of American's hostage. The destruction is contemptible and lies solely on Trump's shoulders.
Now everybody go take a nap and stop playing games. Get your jobs done, and that includes you turtle man Mitch. Bring the bipartisan bill to a vote in the senate and stop licking Trump's boots you feckless turd.

That's the very reason that the Democrats should hold firm. Trump refuses to provide ANY specifics about his border security strategy. His strategy consists of what he has said countless times in rallies "SECURE THE BORDER! BUILD A WALL!".

This $5B will only be a down-payment to Trump; why would you start down that path, when he has shown zero evidence that he understands border security, or has even bothered to spend an hour researching what has worked and what hasn't?

Part of it is that Trump is simply lazy. He thought that being President was going to be a lark in the park. The reality is that to truly understand complex issues of border security it requires many days and long nights understanding the history, and many more days of interacting with border security professionals to intelligently create a plan.

Reality is that Trump couldn't care less about border security. This is all an ego stroking game for him. And we are the pawns.

Nope!
You are dead wrong on this. "Border security professionals" have ALL said the wall is needed.
