Today, January 15th, was supposed to be payday for the Coast Guard workers who are considered essential and are not being paid. Yes, they will be paid eventually, but who knows when. Maybe a year from now, or even longer. In the meantime, they can't quit and are not getting a paycheck.

There is legislation to in Congress to get them paid during the shutdown. If this legislation is successful, the Coast Guard will be paid within a few days and going forward during the government shutdown. But the TSA, Prison Guards, Border Patrol, FBI, ATF and Secret Service would continue to get paychecks for $0.

Yes, it is terrible that the Coast Guard, who work under Homeland Security, is not being paid, but should they get a special exception and get their compensation now when 500,000 other government workers are forced to work and will not be paid?

According to right wingers, screw the Coast Guard. They shouldn't have signed up for the job if they weren't willing to have their paychecks held ransom for a wall for Trump. And they are part of the deep state...

I think that every person required to report for duty should be paid at their next regular payday. If to start this process members of the Coast Guard are paid now, great. This is not a left-wing or right-wing issue, it is a matter of justice.

No pay for ANYONE!! Not even the other branches or Congress. The pain should be distributed equally.

The Coasties are more important than the other active duty military military branches IMO. If anyone is to be paid, it should be them. If they aren’t getting paid, no one should.

Paying the Coast Guard is a way to turn off the pressure on Trump. NOPE!!!
