What reason does anyone have to screw up his name? What’s more simple and English than Martin Luther King?

If you say Coon instead of King, that’s because repitition caused you to slip. That’s a mistake of course, but a mistake that’s all too revealing.

Simpler than how I usually refer to him as: The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior.

It isn’t difficult at all.

Maybe he was thinking about the other guy, like, "God, I hope I don't screw up like he did", and then it happened because he was thinking about it.

First, you say this could be a legit mistake then you do a 180 in the same breath? Nothing confused about that at all.

You don't know when he was alerted to his flub. The entire premise of something being a mistake is that, usually, the person didn't have a clue about it in the first place.

You also reign judgment on if he was sincere or not. What do you require to pass your invisible sincerity meter? Tears? Groveling on one's knees?

As for his coon thing. Let's be realistic here. Does anyone believe any person in their right mind would intentionally call one of the most beloved people in our history a coon on live television?

Does anyone believe this white man (I can't believe I actually need to preface with that) woke up that morning and thought to himself: I want to be fired today and make millions of people want to hurt me and hate me and my family?

If you said "YES" you need to read that a few more times to actually let it sink in. If this guy did this on purpose, wait, nobody would do that on purpose!

When someone innocently misspeaks and they get fired for it because of out of control PC police, SJ zealots and from fear of basement-dwelling social media d&*k heads - sorry, that's when this country has slipped into zombie apocalypse territory.

Yeah, well I’m not so sure that King is all that beloved. Personally, I think a whole lot of people simply admire him NOW because he’s safe in his grave.

If he were alive, he’d be just as despised as every other civil rights leader.

One would imagine that Lamar Odom or Cedars-Sinai would be easier, but apparently they're not...

I'm not arguing that the station didn't have the right to fire him. You aren't going to win an argument with me on the sanctity of property rights so that's not the issue.

I just think it's a shame that people have piled on and this guy's reputation has been tarnished when we have no other evidence of nefarious behavior.
I wonder why, if he really did intend to use a racial slur, that he would jeopardize his career in order to do so. That's why I have a hard time believing it was intentional.

After he was killed, they glossed over his personal history.
