Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx needs to go. No heads up to the mayor or Police Chief, struck a deal with a Judge to seal the records and gave slimey Smolette a slap on the wrist. Smolette and Foxx need a one way ticket out of Chicago asap.
Most people looking at the facts are they are known are probably convinced this is a hoax. But it feels like this is a ways from any sort of official action against Jussie.
To bring any criminal charge they would need to be able to prove he knowingly lied beyond a reasonable doubt. It is very very hard to prove a negative in criminal case. Particularly when its Jussie vs the cops in a city where many distrust cops. Given the high profile nature of the situation an aquital would be a PR disaster for the city.
Often when hate crime hoaxes are uncovered the person involves confesses in exchange for avoiding the expense and risk of charges. Jussie has his entire career on the line and deep pocketed backers. He has the will and means to play chicken with the cops in a way Joe A Public doesn't.
Unless police really have the goods that we haven't seen yet (texts to the brothers, video evidence) it is very possible this just ends with police closing down the investigation citing lack of evidence.
An obstruction of justice charge is probably a little more likely if he tried to delete texts or something.
Back before he was arrested, I was a little skeptical he would be charged with anything given the ability to prosecute cases like this. But, I certainly didn't see prosecutors letting him off and then having him go out and claim vindication.
A plea deal for a fine and community service seems light, but not unreasonable for a nonviolent crime. But, letting him off while allowing him to claim 1) he was a victim and 2)there was no deferred prosecution deal seems unusual.
He wasn't assigned community service, his past and (presumably) ongoing volunteer service to the community were given as reasons for dropping the charges.

Tina Tchen, Michelle Obama’s Chief of Staff and Assistant to President Obama from 2011 to 2017.
One thing I've yet to see so far is that if it is true that Tina Tchen is an integral part of this result and if it is also true that Rahm was bindsided, it's little wonder that Rahm would be upset because Tina Tchen and Rahm's wife Amy have been friends for 45+ years.
They prove there is no such thing as "White Privilege".
There's only green privilege.
What a slap in the face to real victims.
