Yes. But, he's having to do community service, there must have been some sort of agreement.
He wasn't assigned community service, his past and (presumably) ongoing volunteer service to the community were given as reasons for dropping the charges.
You're not going to hear what the deal was with this case because the DA's office has sealed the case. Of course you're welcome to take them at their word they let him walk because his "service to the community" outweighs the damage he's done to it.
Oh ok reminds me of the Mueller report. Still doesn't give anyone the pass to come up with conspiracy theories. How about saying, we don't know. Plain and simple. Oh, wait that would be too easy and lessen the radical rage.
Wow. This is going beyond bizarre now.
Charges dropped.
But, now there may be collusion with the judge?
I called it when I said he wouldn't spend a day behind bars, but charges dropped? Wow.
How can this be? What prosecutor in their right mind would be crazy enough to drop all charges?
I could totally(and did) expect leniency just because, but dropped? That's bananas.
Total shock to me. Just came across my facebook feed and I was like no way. I read it wrongly. NO WAY!
Right. They are off topic with the conspiracy theories again.
Kay kay kay, please remove your star struck blinders and admit the truth, your statements in defense make you look foolish... The rest of the world knows the truth, come out of the closet....

Yeah, it's a real reach to think maybe something's off-kilter when Chicago politicians are involved in a questionable decision that flies in the face of the known facts (not to mention involves a $10,000 cash transfer) and pledges no further information about it will be forthcoming. And the so-called "radical rage" looks a little less radical and a little more mainstream when you have the police chief and the Rahm Emmanuel of all people, who is not known as a police-friendly mayor, calling a joint press conference to denounce the decision.
Foxx announced her recusal on Feb. 20, and that same day a spokesperson released a statement to ABC News, telling them, "Out of an abundance of caution, the decision to recuse herself was made to address potential questions of impartiality based upon familiarity with potential witnesses in the case."
According to the text messages obtained by ABC7 from the State's Attorney's office, the Smollett family was worried about leaks in the investigation and reached out to Foxx through a politically-connected lawyer.
The family wanted Foxx to ask Chicago police to request that the FBI take over the lead in the investigation.
I wonder who the politically connected lawyer is.

Ok, sure, a deal, but deals usually happen when there is at least some ownership of what they did, but in this case, he still flats out denies all of it. Deals usually are for lesser charges, but in this case, no charges at all, zero, but just forfeiture of a bond.
So wait... are people here suggesting that a person can be guilty even if an official document says they are not?
