Strangely enough, Republicans USED to care about this
It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Neither party gives a crap about the Debt. Reagan massively increased it. Every President after him significantly increased the overall debt during their tenure. George W doubled the Debt which was insane. Then Barack Obama's like, "Hold my beer!" and proceeds to double it again.

My question to anyone pretending to care about the Debt: Did you care when it was your party in power? If you didn't care then, why should anyone take you seriously now?? That goes for R's and D's both. They both spend money like idiots and they both need to be stopped. We've never needed a Balanced Budget Amendment more but good luck getting the idiots in Congress to move on it.

Government needs to spend less in every category. Regardless of who sits in the WH.

Borrowing down, Fed reigning in the money supply. All signs of a great economy.

Yeah but Trump didn't have anything to do with the Fed starting (attempting?) to unwind their balance sheet. (And we'll see how long that lasts...)

And the hilarious part is that the Democrats are play-pretending that a measly $5B for a wall is some big deal. It takes a thousand Billons to make one Trillion and we've already got 22,000 Billion in the hole, so what's another 5 to keep the border jumpers out?

You have to ask yourself...why do they really have their heels dug in so deep on the whole "wall thing"?

I have always thought that Simpson-Bowles had a good plan back in 2010 for a start. But it was killed by a joint effort on both sides. So much for Congress really being serious about the subject

And we continue to vote for them... at some point, we have to look at ourselves.

Nah there is really nothing you can do about it as a voter. Both sides of the aisle are just as equally bought and paid for. If there was a 3rd party, the big money donors would figure out how to buy them too. It's all about the money. Who has it and who is greedy and wants it. (And what will you do for me if I give it to you...)

Q3 2018 (Trump).....debt/GDP is 104.15261%

Brain-dead leftist conclusion: Trump is running up the debt!

Rational, mathematically literate conclusion: The debt level, as a function of GDP, is decreasing.

I honestly don't know what the Republican Party is supposed to represent anymore.
I'm at a loss as well.

They go on about Christian values and then support policies like kidnapping little kids. What would Jesus say about that?

They carry on about the Constitution and proudly wear their flag lapel pins while ingcover for Trump who's is either a traitor or playing one.

They talk about being the party of "fiscal responsibility," but the last Republican President who left the nation in better economic condition as he found it was Eisenhower.

Yeah... that's where we are now. Nothing lasts forever though...
