If the Democrats ever called an emergency, it would likely be over something like climate change, not guns. Most of them do not want the 2nd overturned.
Why this belief that all the Dems are anti-gun? Not even most of them are.

If Trump loses in 2020 and the Democrats get in power and they attempt to declare a national emergency for gun control, I think that's it for the good ole' US of A. I can't see the right accepting that or waiting on the courts to take action. The ONLY way to prevent this at this point is bipartisan legislation to reign in the executive branch. Agree or disagree? Did Trump just make civil war inevitable?
Depends on how far the democrats go. If they enact "common sense" gun control, remove some of the more objectionable weapons, and make buying guns more difficult, that is one thing. If they try to come around, house by house, street by street, and confiscate guns that legally belong to people....well let's just say that isn't going to go over very well.
Why do conservatives get their panties in a twist over "gun control"? Gun control is not confiscation. Gun control are regulations to increase safety while fully preserving our 2A rights.
Cars have been required to have license plates for nearly 100 years. Has that led to government confiscation of cars? No. In the same way, we could institute gun registration and mandatory background checks and not take away 2A rights.

secondly they have a lack of empathy towards others. they don't understand until it directly affects them.

Saying Democrats want to take away your guns - makes for good TV and talk radio - Great for the NRA selling more money and great for the GOP politicians getting people to vote for them.
Remember. it's always about fear. fear sells. fear has worked throughout history since the dawn of humans. we have never learned.

As a pretty ardent lefty, I agree wholeheartedly with this.
Any president who says: "I am declaring a National Emergency. I do not need to do this, but it's faster" is not credible.
He just lost the case. If "he did not need to do this" it is hardly an emergency.
Could you please post the stats regarding the "decrease in deaths" you expect from a 'wall,' or the stats for the number of deaths caused by a lack of wall and "illegal drugs smuggled into the US"?
If 90% of the drugs come through points of entry, I don't see the correlation of decreased crime. There are not even stats to show that any crime is caused by not having a wall. Boats would deliver drugs if they actually cared about crossing the border. But most come in at the ports. We need more technology and more people--not a wall.
I don't agree with your argument at all. Guns are not smuggled into the US--we don't need guns--we have millions of them. They are not killing us. We are killing them!

Sounds like another good reason to get the border secured. It's also a shame that democrats on the house judiciary committee voted down an amendment that would report illegal aliens to ICE who attempt to buy guns, but apparently they don't care. https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/de...ying-buy-guns/

No, we are not killing them they are killing each other. And they are killing Americans, and committing every other type of crime.
It's true that most drugs which are seized are found at border crossings, and that's because we can screen everyone coming in. Nobody has a clue how many drugs and who knows what else are getting through unsecured areas, but it's more than enough to fuel a huge drug epidemic. If we had a secure border it would reduce the amount of drugs being smuggled in.
We have created a monster and largely have to live with it at this point.
