This actually isn't unique as some Police and Sheriffs in other states have come out publicly with the same position. It does kind of highlight the urban/rural divide, though. So then, what? Does State Government ignore it and move on?

They ignore it and move on just like they are doing in NY and Jersey.

Most of the new laws can't be enforced without violating rights.

Both NY and CT citizens over 90% refused to register with their states that they owned a AR-15 rifle or equivalent, when each of these states passed laws that required their citizens who owned them to register them with the state.

And in each case about 50,000 people did register their AR-15 type of rifles, but the states believe that that number is over 500,000 people who actually own those types of rifles with in each state.

So the states pretend that these people don't exist, and the people are willfully daring the state to try and come and take their weapons. And everybody just pretends that the laws passed by scared politicians does not exist.

So WA 1639 is currently a pain in our sides. Gotta love taking your kid to an appointment and a Dr asking if there are weapons in the house and how they are stored because this law is going into place in July 2019.
There are some very angry people in WA over this law.
