You are correct....I did not notice that....however, the pronunciation is still the same...in the end, it's just their middle name that is different....
They are similar somewhat in spelling and pronunciation, but not the same.
It's not the end of the world necessarily but he should be briefed on the right way to say it so he doesn't look foolish.
I agree, but the entire point of this thread is that he called out a dead person when in fact, he did not....he just did not call him by his middle name, he used his proper name, no matter the pronunciation...

Do you think his first name is Ayatollah or something? It's a title. He said what sounded very much like Ayatollah Khomeini. Did not say a first name or middle name. Khamenei, which is pronounced differently, is the name of the current Ayatollah.
Trump is not just some random dude speaking to the local Toastmasters. He should make more of an effort to get it right, especially when dealing with other world leaders. He can have someone brief him on the correct pronunciations or something.
Otherwise, he's less likely to be taken seriously.
"Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani mocked Trump on Tuesday, saying the White House is “afflicted by mental retardation.”
Doesn't he work for us, the American people? From what I understand, Donald Trump has had five 1-on-1 meetings with Putin, and there is no official record of any of those conversations.

But didn't everyone say that all of the permits were in order?
Oh, my.
"The owner of the land in Sunland Park, New Mexico, where the private border wall was built is being charged with illegally building without a permit."

So, a group of people on their own land, built a wall on their private land and now the town is mad because they did not get a permit to build on their private land.....

Most towns have rules on what you can build, even if it's your own private land. For example, I know that in my city, I can build a fence on my property without a permit as long as it's not over 6' tall. If I want a taller fence, I need to get a permit from the city.
