The buck stops....anywhere but at the top?

Sorry, but no. Its funny reading about how understaffed the Fitz was, and then reading how Trump was going to take money for his emergency wall by raiding military pay money. Which will mean that even if they got more people....they couldn't pay them. LOL. And yeah to you, theres no relationship. The military is the one thing he directly controls!

Obama wasn't well-spoken...he was good at reading teleprompters. When he was off the teleprompters he stuttered and babbled like an idiot! CLEAN? ...As in fresh from the bathhouse?

My son spent 3 years on the Fitz during Obama's first/second term. It seems to have only gotten worse after he left.

This report seems to say that it had really gotten bad. How it could go from a Battle E award winner to this is a serious concern.

I suggest you at least read the article before commenting. Furthermore, I'm not blaming Trump for the Fitzgerald, I'm blaming him for worsening relations in the tinderbox of the South China Sea. And I'll provide you with something to consider (Benson is the Cmdr. of the USS Fitzgerald):

Quote:
That spring, North Korea had stepped up missile tests. In an interview on Fox Business News, President Donald Trump promised to stop them. “We are sending an armada, very powerful,” Trump said.

In May, the aircraft carriers the USS Carl Vinson and the USS Ronald Reagan steamed into the Sea of Japan, the first time two carriers had done so in decades. Benson got orders to join the armada. He would have to abandon the repairs he had planned to make and sail out with a crew that had never trained to sail with a carrier strike group, a complicated operation involving a dozen ships and thousands of sailors.

In 2001, along comes George W. Bush, and after September 11th forced an imprint of terrorism on everyones conscience, our response was the worst possible: Use that catastrophe to attack and occupy a nation that had nothing to do with 9/11. It laid bare the grotesque expediency of using the deaths of 3000 innocent Americans to justify a war on an innocent nation.

Now fast forward to Donald Trump. After 8 years of admirable work of cleaning up Republican messes (wars and recessions, namely, but also helping to restore our standing in the world) Trump is selected President and immediately goes about insulting and humiliating our friends in the world, all while cozying up to dictators.

Yet this man, who recently raised the profile in North Korea of a despot, made him a legend to his people and tried to normalize him on the world stage, was played for the fool he is and North Korea has resumed doing what thinking people knew they would: building their nuclear arsenal.

Trump has also shown deference to Vladimir Putin, a thug who murders those who disagree with him. And Trump has started a trade war with our largest trading partner and geopolitical foe on earth, one that China is likely in far better shape to win than we are.

I read recently about the sorry state of the USS Fitzgerald, which was rammed unaware by a cargo ship, and months later another destroyer, the USS McCain, was also rammed. Both ships suffered from a lack of training, qualified personnel, and most importantly, the time and money to repair radars and other electronics that are the brains of these warships.

Now when our Navy is in China's backyard, and China has decided they have finally had enough and take out all of our satellites, and the 7th Fleet is left in the dark, what will the pathological liar in the White House say then?

Bush was awful, but he listened to his handlers. Trump is twice as ignorant and doesn't listen to anyone but Fox and Friends. We might very well see the end of empire, right here, right now, and if you like America losing its place in the world, Trump is your guy.

This is another perfect example of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

But then again, that's just MY opinion, for what it's worth.

In the summer of 2017, two Navy destroyers crashed into two cargo ships, killing 17 sailors in America’s most powerful fleet. It shouldn’t have been a surprise. For years, top Pentagon and Navy officials had ignored the warnings of the Navy’s own sailors and officers that the 7th Fleet was dangerously understaffed and in disrepair.
