Looks to me a case of it never being enough for the 1%.

This goes back decades.... A lot of very well known people are going to be named. This was the rich and connected, buying their way in an unequal rigged scheme. Buying their kids way to being connected themselves.

This has been happening since the founding of our universities. That's why I see it so funny that people have a problem with affirmative action. Don't seem to understand that these universities have NEVER been fair. J.F.K. was a C student and still got into Harvard and went on to become the POTUS. Of course it only matters when it's none white people who make it in.

Wealthy people cheating the system is nothing new. The guy who ran this scam made 25 million dollars. Many of these kids gained entrance into elite schools by being recruited as athletes when they had no athletic abilities. Coaches were paid to give them a spot on the team and then these kids would fake a injury and quit the sport. I all honesty who has 250k to ensure their kid gets into Stanford.

Wealthy and powerful people also get their kids jobs that they might never have qualified for. This is common.

46 arrests, $25 million paid to a fraudulent charity (tax deductible so the IRS got involved too).
