I'm not a supporter of sanctuary cities but this politics of pettiness and payback should be beneath the office of the President of the United States. Unfortunately there's nothing that's beneath Donald J. (the "J" is for "juvenile") Trump.
No, the issue here is leftwing hypocrisy and how best to deal with that. I cannot think of a more appropriate way.
It is because of democrats refusal to fix immigration laws that force this idiotic and self destructive policy of catch and release. The democrats tireless efforts to thwart every effective measure of border security, most notably to include their dogged efforts to block the construction of border walls to stem the tide of illegals flooding in, which is contrary to the will of the people ... which in some measure apparently includes you, since you don’t support sanctuary cities ....
So, we have these masses of illegals that must be released because of the flawed laws .... where should they be released? 1) into communities who are against granting safe harbor to illegal immigrants, or 2) release them into sanctuary cities where they are apparently welcomed guests?
While I kinda know what your response would likely be ... Seems to me, the most reasonable choice is number 2
Here’s the reality .... it’s easy for San Francisco to champion the rights of illegals, and dictate how El Paso should be forced to accommodate them, because SF ain’t being invaded. El Paso believes that if San Francisco’s great policies are to be forced upon anyone, it should be on San Francisco’s residents, not El Paso’s.

I think you missed the point
The reality is, data from Arizona (as reported by the Washington Times) shows that illegals commit crimes at TWICE the rate of native born citizens, according to criminal conviction statistics. Of course, it wouldn’t be a great stretch to assume the actual rates are higher, given the probability of illegals being more difficult to identify, find, and prosecute, as compared to established citizen residents.
