I'm glad they caught the shooter.

One alt-right nut job less.

Jabs aside, stop feeling. Start thinking. Think before you post craigiri...
Well, I'm surely not going to debate if you claim to be the ultimate guide to guns and self-defense....

But what I am going to claim to be, and rightly so, is one of the very first 1/10th of 1% of Americans to understand the online world (say, back in 1984 and ever since) and do all the calculations which involved the "network effect"....

Now, if you don't know the difference between one person, a hundred people and BILLIONS of people, it is unlikely I am going to be able to school you in such. But I can provide some hints.

First - since I like very much to come to agreements, let's agree that propaganda works...well. If it didn't, the the Russians, Germans, Brits, Americans and other governments must have been crazy to invest so many resources into it. In fact, we could continue to say that the trillions spent on "marketing" (propaganda...almost always) was also wasted money....

It wasn't. Propaganda, brainwashing, peer pressure - ALL these things work, and they work well.

The mass of humans just cannot help themselves. Attention=Energy and people are drawn to horror, terror death and destruction like a moth to a flame.

If we also agree that sick people have existed forever...that is, there is a bell curve of sanity and even of anti-social behavior. But in the olden daze.....those people sat largely alone. Now, they have people like those in this thread spreading around their "interpretations and twitter comments" of anything and everything they desire.

Like a monkey given cocaine (the monkey stops eating, having sex or being a regular monkey...forever), these people are drugged...the more people that watch and comment, the more they try to attract more people. They often get PAID for smearing feces on the wall.

All I can ask you to do at this point is to consider the network effect.

"exponential, benefit gained by users of a platform for each new user that joins the platform."

Exponential. Meaning more. VASTLY more. Like why BILLIONS use Facebook. You are effectively telling us that this makes little difference and that only a rifle in our hands means anything.

Not true. The Pen is MUCH mightier than the rifle.

The shooter this time was just 19 years old. This kind of radicalization by the alt-right has become a real problem and many right-wing tropes and distortions set these kids up to be soft targets for the more extreme elements. Much the same way that Islamist terrorists groups benefit from a general conservative, bigoted culture of much of sunni religious upbringing.

Being as much of the alt-right is funded, championed and even originally "designed" by billionaires looking for political advantages (and the economic ones that come after that), there is zero possibility of stopping this radicalization. It sat in the WH and whispered in the POTUS ear in the form of Steve Bannon. It still shouts into his ear through Miller and others.

There is a vast economic empire - even independent of the above mentioned billionaires - that makes money and power/fame off this activity. Everything from the Gold Hawkers to the Hate Radio and TV millionaires...and uncounted "mini-me" types that parrot them for a bit of TY income or reaction on social media.

These people - that is, the "cannon fodder" that are radicalized, aren't driven by the want of being accepted in their families and societies. They are driven by "friends" and "likes" and "views" and "outrage", so whoever gives it to them is going to corral them.

Maybe this is a good reason to immediately legalize prostitution. I don't think these guys are getting what they need...

Make Love, Not War....and all of that.

trump confirms the good guy with a gun saved lives today. If the person in the synagogue hadn't been armed, there would have been many more murdered by this evil shooter.
No, the shooters gun jammed and the off duty officer fired at him when he was fleeing the scene. That's why the shooter's car was hit.

Good thing he was using a gun that's prone to jamming. The AR15. Had he a lever or pump rifle he'd have been still shooting for a while. Or worse, a pump shotgun that you can single feed all day long so long as you have ammo.

The normalization of anti-Semitism by supposed prestigious publications like the NYTimes contributes to the radicalization of those prone to this way of thinking and gives license to virulent antvi-semites like the shooter in San Diego.
THe NYT prides itself on being ultra-liberal, and they encourage antisemitism by publishing that cartoon? Absolutely reprehensible.
