A new survey finds white Republicans are far more likely to be put off by foreign language speakers than their Democratic counterparts.

According to Pew Research Center, 47 percent of such Republicans say it would bother them “some” or “a lot” to “hear people speak a language other than English in a public place.” Eighteen percent of white Democrats said they would be similarly bothered.

This doesn't come as much of a surprise but it's troubling nonetheless. But time moves forward and whether everyone likes it or not, we will be living in an increasingly diverse society, regardless of whether or not everyone is comfortable with that.

I lived in NYC and heard many foreign languages daily on the street. I live in Austin and hear Spanish almost daily in various situations. never a problem! there are lots of people living or visiting in American cities.

I don't like to press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish. this is America...we speak English. all americans should be required to speak at least minimal English!

Couldn't be true. There are only a few dozen white Democrats in America.
Article didn't say what black Democrats thought. Or Black Republicans.......

The eighteen percent of white Democrats who feel bothered by people speaking foreign languages must be the ones who are supporting old Joe Biden.

To the OP (as the OP is talking): I'm going to link to a pay wall, provide a few sentences that I (the OP) agree with an then complain when others cannot respond to the full report because "those others" cannot see/read what I'm talking about, because I linked something I agree with that many people cannot even read....

Gotta love being a dem.....there is my cake and I'm eating it also....

I always enjoy being in places where I hear other languages...it usually gives me the hint that I am somewhere good enough to attract people from overseas and all walks of life.

Wow...so maybe the slogan of the GOP needs to be "Get off my Lawn and SPEAK AMERICAN".....that could replace the current slogan "I promise to you that I only do it with my wife".

You could have just asked instead of, well, what you did.

But here's the original source https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2019...nic-diversity/

Which is why you can never have any type of honest conversation with you.

But keep thinking this, when trump once again becomes your president in the next election.
