Google Is Moving More Hardware Production Out of China - Bloomberg

Google has already shifted much of its production of U.S.-bound motherboards to Taiwan, averting a 25% tariff, said the people, asking not to be identified discussing internal matters. While U.S. officials have pinpointed Chinese-made motherboards as a security risk, Google didn’t bring that up during discussions with its suppliers, they said. Tariffs have also pushed American-bound production of its Nest devices to Taiwan and Malaysia,

I'm sorry, but when did the goal change from increasing jobs and improving the US, to the goal being to hurt China?

Hurting China doesn't help us. So far we have pushed Xi and Putin together in a close friendship.... and that is NOT in our best interest.

I see you don't understand the goal !!! Its not to hurt China !!!
Its to get a better more equal deal and reduce tariffs for both in the end !!!
Instead of being China's piggybank under the past deal where they were given advantage as an undeveloped nation. That no longer applies and its time to reset the trade relationship. China has done more to hurt themselves by going back on the progress made, and agreed to, then backing out of the deal altogether !!!

Do you dispute my link in post #1 ? Show its not correct !!! You have yet to do that !!! Why ?

Vietnam is by far the biggest winner, having gained 7.9 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) from trade diversion from both the U.S. and China tariffs

It was the plan all along but we had to sell it to the people of this country that putting tariffs on China was all about bringing jobs back to this country and making America Great Again.
The goal as usual is to reward the wealthy Globalists and punish China and American Workers and Consumers.

Not sure if people are being daft or they sincerely don't get it, but...

How does moving production out of a belligerent and adversarial nation, and towards friendly ones instead, benefit the US as a whole?

Do you really need an explanation?

Small amount of business moved from China to countries like Vietnam doesn’t help America at all, and there is nothing great about it because it does not change the fact of dependence on China. In fact, it shows the state of despair to American public. China will replace the US role in future technology leadership. Instead of working on domestic competitiveness, Trump administration took the wrong approach trade war. He started the war, he will be the one seeking to end it too, and that’s next to happen, nothing gained. It did damage the mutual trust between the two countries. It seems China is now more focused on leveraging the dependence for damages since there is no more future in cooperation.

How does the move reduce the U.S. global trade deficit? There may be reasons why a move is desirable but those weren’t the reasons given why the tariffs were levied.
